I believe Dominic540i just chopped off his "scuba tank" and it sounds awesome. Not sure if his exhaust is the same as yours though.
You are correct there, and it should be the exact same exhaust. I always planned to put a turndown pipe in its place, but never got around to it. Now I have other plans anyway, since my car is completely torn apart. My exhaust is off entirely if you would like pictures of anything also. I would definitely recommend it though. Very slight loss in bottom end torque (almost unnoticeable), but definite gains in top end power.
As far as the dual exhaust option, it would require cutting/modifying the spare tire tub, as there is no room for a pipe on the passenger side. I would stay away from that personally.

Haha
I need to get those up!! #illfindtime
Definitely! I would love to see them. Should be some good ones in there.

It isn't as stinky as my catless non-turbo S52 was. Closer to race gas than dirty smelling.
I can vouch for the race gas smell from following it on the cruise to scooters this year. I actually questioned about whether it was running on race gas.

That sounds pretty cool. Let me know if you go and I may join you.

Mine currently looks like this, but I will be doing the timing guides also, so further disassembly is required. Let me know if you have any questions and I would be glad to help if I can!

Just picked this up this week! Rusty but can't complain at all. 5 speed with m50, 186000 miles, with summer and winter tires on wheels

Welcome!
What are the plans for the car? If you are looking to part it out, I would be interested in the wheels and possibly other parts.

What type of modifications were done to the TUB engine? Just the intake and valve cover powder coat?

Thanks guys! Though I'm still pondering over what I just read...

I can vouch for DDM as well. I'm at just over a year with mine and no issues whatsoever.

Wish I could come, but I will be working too far away to make the drive down there. Good luck Kaiser!

Looking for some opinions here. My boss is about to sell his e39 and he has a set of 17" style 42's with summer tires on them that he plans to include. I already have a summer setup that I like, but I was considering trading him my 17" Mille Miglia winter wheels, and swapping the tires, if he would agree to it. That way, I would end up with the style 42's for winter. I understand that the 42's are worth more, but I like the looks of 5 spoke wheels. What are your thoughts?

Glad to see you got on here!

Yes I do work there. If Chris can't answer your questions, feel free to shoot me a PM.

Hopefully Dominic will chime in but since I've ridden/driven his car I can attest to it being very quiet on the highway and during city driving since the stock resonators are still in place. Check out the videos he posted on his gopro mount thread.
I've heard Mike's 528e too and it sounds good too.
I agree with Earl, even though the Dinan exhaust might be tired it still could be sold and a stock catback would be a good candidate for a muffler delete.
I have no real issue with any drone or resonating except at ~1800-2000RPM. Even then, it is by no means unbearable. After I cut off the muffler I did not put a straight pipe in its place. If I were to do that, I am almost positive that the resonating would go away completely.
I would like to hear what he did to his system as well. Chris showed me videos though and it is great.
I am not sure how the exhaust is routed on the e34, but for mine it was very simple. All that I removed were the two scuba tank like mufflers at the rear of the car. (Cut it with a sawzall about 4" beyond the rear axle if I remember correctly.) I still have the cats and resonator in place. Eventually, I plan to extend the pipe to the back of the car, just haven't gotten around to it.

Got a little bored this past weekend and decided to throw this together. Its all stuff I had just laying around, and actually works really well. Obviously this isn't a real Go-Pro... its a Wingman HD. Just a simple 1/4"-20 bolt mount, like any tripod. I was pleasantly surprised by how it turned out.

That sounds beautiful...

I was planning on just cutting off the muffler for now till I got the money for a legit system. Eventually I would like to get a Eisenmann exhaust, they sound ridiculously good. Here is a video of what it sounds like. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5d2cJ_n8m8 The problem is that system cost $1200 so I have a way to go till I can get that.
Wonderful idea
540i: Resonator/Muffler delete.

Not a problem. It'll be a day or two before I get to it, but I'll see what I can do for you. I should really start a thread for my car at some point too....
