  1. I believe Dominic540i just chopped off his "scuba tank" and it sounds awesome. Not sure if his exhaust is the same as yours though.

You are correct there, and it should be the exact same exhaust. I always planned to put a turndown pipe in its place, but never got around to it. Now I have other plans anyway, since my car is completely torn apart. My exhaust is off entirely if you would like pictures of anything also. I would definitely recommend it though. Very slight loss in bottom end torque (almost unnoticeable), but definite gains in top end power.

As far as the dual exhaust option, it would require cutting/modifying the spare tire tub, as there is no room for a pipe on the passenger side. I would stay away from that personally.

  2. Looking for some opinions here. My boss is about to sell his e39 and he has a set of 17" style 42's with summer tires on them that he plans to include. I already have a summer setup that I like, but I was considering trading him my 17" Mille Miglia winter wheels, and swapping the tires, if he would agree to it. That way, I would end up with the style 42's for winter. I understand that the 42's are worth more, but I like the looks of 5 spoke wheels. What are your thoughts?

  3. Hopefully Dominic will chime in but since I've ridden/driven his car I can attest to it being very quiet on the highway and during city driving since the stock resonators are still in place. Check out the videos he posted on his gopro mount thread.

I've heard Mike's 528e too and it sounds good too.

I agree with Earl, even though the Dinan exhaust might be tired it still could be sold and a stock catback would be a good candidate for a muffler delete.

I have no real issue with any drone or resonating except at ~1800-2000RPM. Even then, it is by no means unbearable. After I cut off the muffler I did not put a straight pipe in its place. If I were to do that, I am almost positive that the resonating would go away completely.

I would like to hear what he did to his system as well. Chris showed me videos though and it is great.

I am not sure how the exhaust is routed on the e34, but for mine it was very simple. All that I removed were the two scuba tank like mufflers at the rear of the car. (Cut it with a sawzall about 4" beyond the rear axle if I remember correctly.) I still have the cats and resonator in place. Eventually, I plan to extend the pipe to the back of the car, just haven't gotten around to it.

  4. Got a little bored this past weekend and decided to throw this together. Its all stuff I had just laying around, and actually works really well. Obviously this isn't a real Go-Pro... its a Wingman HD. Just a simple 1/4"-20 bolt mount, like any tripod. I was pleasantly surprised by how it turned out.
