  1. If you would have bought me the trans, drive shaft, diff, swap pan, booster and all the other piddly shit that goes along with the swap I would have. For $400 I can drive my car again. Ill take it. If I swap the car for a 24 valve or anything other than stock motor I would rather do something a lot cooler than an m50. My theory is...it would suck really bad to swap my car for performance gains and still get shit on by an STI or some stupid shit of the sort lol

  2. Shes back on the road! Running better than ever too. Thanks to Snap lending me that clutch tool :) byno means would I call myself a mechanic but I do know my way around an m42 now... that's for sure. Besides the physical aspect of using the picker to pull the motor and then placing the new one back in, I did all that shit by myself. Working on it for two solid nights and some random bits here and there in between. Not bad for a rookie. And by the way, if anyone ever wants to swap an e36 m42 into an e30 you have to swap way more shit than the internet says you do lol

  3. all the guides are brand new the sprockets look good the bearings in the idler gear look good everything looks good. I'm just not sure what's causing that rattling. It sounds like the chain. Maybe the one lifter that failed causing the knock has a blocked oil passage leading to it partially starving that lifter of oil until it fails. I'm not positive though I'm just going to run it and see what happens. If it does it again then I know there is a crazy issue.

  4. Fcp euro has lifetime guarantee on all their stuff. Great cut service too. I email a sales rep and they email me back within an hour. if my car didn't take a crap again I would be returning a kit that I bought -1 part and they were going to reimburse me the difference. Pretty cool guys

  5. That's a real bummer, sorry to see that happened. Glad you at least made it home, seems kind of miraculous!

This is exactly the sort of thing that comes to mind when I hear people say that they got rid of an M20 because they dont want to deal with timing belts.

timing belts sounds like my best friend right now haha
