    Dude is on crack.

"No rust"... if I can visibly see multiple areas of rust from small pictures, I can only imagine what I'd find in person.

Also, his desired list of trades are all worth way more than this car, but he has the audacity to say "might have to add cash on your end".

    That's my old car lol

It's a little worse off since it left my garage.

I guess you could disconnect the cable and try driving it to be sure.

Re brakes and a vw golf checklist this might be useful

When it happens again I'd find a safe place to pull over, jack up the rear rotate the wheel to hear what it sounds like and pull the wheel and see for yourself if the pads are dragging or it's something else (rear wheel bearing?? Though I expect you'd hear this). Since you know that driving 55+ for a while does it, experiment this weekend.

Thanks for the link, I'll give it a try tomorrow or the day after as I'm on vacation for a bit here!

Don't know VWs but with all that was replaced (esp the caliper and hose and assuming it was all bled correctly) I'd still look a bit closer at the parking brake on that side before shelling out $$$ for a booster or master. Is this model old school cable to the PB actuators or electronic? How did they check to make sure everything with the PB was OK?

It's old school cables, they basically just had someone pulling the lever, and other under the car to make sure the cables were moving properly and releasing/catching properly.

  4. I know i'm a traitor, but y'alls is the only friends I have....

My newly acquired 2010 VW Golf, (acquired via blood money in the form of my e30), has run into an issue with the rear passenger brake sticking occasionally, causing a very warm back end and smell of hot metal. A shop picked up the work for me, replacing the rear calipers, rotors, and pads. I drove the VW home, and found the issue persists. Its typically only noticeable after extended highway trips at 55+. Occasionally the car will nearly "hold" itself on smaller inclines, other times it seems to roll back as most manual vehicles do.

I brought it back the next day and they replaced the passenger rear brake hose. Leave the shop, issue is still there.

Bring it back to the shop, they disassemble the rear brakes and make sure everything is installed properly. They checked the parking brake and determined it looked OK. Drive it home, issue persists.

Now they're "guessing" it could be my brake booster or master cylinder, and have offered to replace those for the cheap sum of $1115 with no guarantee it will fix anything.

Has anyone ever heard of a booster or master cylinder causing 1 specific wheel to drag occasionally?

The Cleveland Browns is a more appealing head coaching job from a roster perspective than the Packers right now.  Mike McCarthy was terrible but the front office has done NOTHING to help the team out.  There is no upside to the Packers right now other than having Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams.

I think the defense is certainly trending in the right direction, and next year we should clear up a bit of cap by letting bums like Nick Perry and Cobb go, and most likely Clay is gone too. That should give us more money to play with in free agency if Gute again feels like dipping his toes in. Let the DBs get healthy, pray that King can go at least 3 weeks without getting hurt, and we will have a tall, fast, ballhawking secondary minus a free safety.

Same thing on offense I think. Once A-aron finds chemistry with the rookie receivers we're going to be dangerous again if we get a coach/playcaller that schemes them open rather than relying on Rodgers to throw everyone open. Aaron Jones is a beast, he needs to touch the ball 20 times a game instead of 10. Like 30 other teams, we need offensive line help..

Next you'll be telling us its an auto trans too.

    Have thee no faith?

    It is 5 speed, 126k.

With each passing day I grew less and less interested in the E30. It simply needed too much work, I have no space, no tools, and coupled with a lack of motivation I knew it was just going to rot in the garage. Time to move on, but I'm sure I'll be back in a BMW soon enough, I always come back....

Next time though, I'm thinking another M car.

Just to be clear, I don't want people to think that there's going to be some sort of crazy party that's going to get out of hand. Just a casual hangout and for those that have to drive aways, you can stay here the night.

@Ryan..., bring whatever you want. Just you showing up to an event seems like an unachievable feat.

My 2018 goal was to "Be Better", so I think October would be a good time to really kickstart that.
