Guest Ryan
---------------------------------------- Car is for sale. Looking to get a bike. $2500 for WIBimmer members. PM or email. ---------------------------------------- Forgot to mention, I am e30rott from e30tech. Hopefully I can be useful here like I was there --- So after weeks on end of searching for a new project, since I sold off the old one. ('79 Scirocco) I came across what seemed too good to be true of an ad for a 1996 318iS. To make a long story short, the PO had the car for the past 6 or 7 years, and had extensive services records from his time with the car, and even from the PO who took delivery of the car from Germany to New Jersey in '96. I drove 200 or so miles and basically bought it instantly. Only issues, and his reason for selling, were that it ran cold (stuck T-stat) and the front driver's coil spring snapped. So onto the flat bed it went. Once home, the battle of the waterpump began. Basically ended up removing the radiator, condensor, and one kidney in order to get a slide hammer in there. About 50 whacks later, she broke free. (yes I tried the m6 bolts in the WP ears. They broke the ears right off.) Cleaned up the corrosion around the WP, reinstalled that and the T-stat, and everything engine wise is good to go. Then had the decision on whether to keep it extremely cheap, and just cut the springs and save up :or the coil overs. Or buy another set of oem springs from the stealership. As it was an 800 dollar car, and Concourse wanted ~250 for the springs; I went for cut springs for now. So the day after she came home, she looked like this: After some scouring I found some Style 23's on Craiglist, that a guy was running on an X5, leaving them free of any curbage, and overall very nice wheels for the price. Put those on, and a set of 5mm spacers and the final (for this week) product exactly a week later: Edited May 28, 2012 by Ryan

Guest Ryan
Two weeks of ownership Total $$ spent: $1380.68 Went out to the local junkyard, and was completely floored to find a 1996 M3 in Cosmos at the lot. (with engine and drivetrain!) Unfortunately someone got a hold of the front set of Vaders! Rear seats still there, just don't match my tan interior! So I ended up pulling the power mirrors, clear tails, side skirts, and moldings off the car and purchased for $80 + tax. Wish I had been able to get the trunk spoiler off the trunk, but someone prior to me stripped it out... If anyone has a spare jack hole cover for the one side skirt, it was missing... Spent a little while this afternoon to put my new toys on the car. Here's the result, nothing special, but I do like the overall appearance much more now. Earl
What did you use for drilling holes for the clips on the skirts? If you have a drilling jig id love to borrow it.

Actually I used 3M automotive double-sided tape. I honestly can not believe how rock solid they are on there.

Guest Ryan
Why the sale bud? Between my fiance and I we have 4 cars. Thought I could sell off two of them, and potentially get/build a motorcycle for summers. Plus, I've never really liked e36's... haha. I'm an e30 fella myself. Ryan...
^^ Good man, motorcycles are something that can potentially bring much more happiness than cars, especially if you aren't in love with the car.** Edit, 1000th post! I need a life...

I need a life... I can see it being a much more rewarding, fun process. Reminds me of the old days taking apart, and fabbing things up for my BMX bikes. Hoping to find, or build a bobber.
Ryan...
There are tons of cheap older bikes that'd be perfect for either a bobber or cafe project.

Trying to find a nice condition XS650, and just buy the hardtail from TC Bros. and weld it all up.
