    Isn't this up for sale?

It is listed right now but I don't anticipate it actually selling for that much, and it doesn't cost me anything to keep it. Some bad stuff is happening at my job and I won't have one beginning of next February, so I listed it just to see if I can get some quick cash at a profit.

Obviously this means my plans of modding it are on hold until this is straightened out. Not that I want to drive it much during the winter with these crappy tires.

  2. I drove it across the state to a friends place to help him pick up a new car (Supercharged Miata), and kept staring at it to find any issues, but I honestly can't find any fault besides a tiny blemish in the paint, I'll have them take a look at that monday to make sure. I told the shop manager that I have big plans for this car eventually and I think they took that seriously. They also gave me a lifetime warranty so I'm really happy.

As for the burnout, I tried that a few weeks ago and even with the traction control off something refused to let the wheels spin. I can try to dig up that video.

You're too young to understand how awesome it is.

Car is getting painted today, should be back tomorrow or thursday. Anything specific I should look for when inspecting it? Does the paint have to dry or can I touch it right away?

You have a CRZ as a daily?! Im all kinds of PB&Jelly.

Yeah, when my last E90 broke during the River Valley Road Rally we picked this up as a reliable daily, which then opened up the world of N54 problems to me without worrying about being without a car. I don't drive to work, but in a way I have the boring ol Honda to thank for the 335.

Also got some new plates for the car today, you also get a cat to look at.

  5. Day 5 of repairs, its the weekend and I wanted to go for a drive. Remembered I don't have my car, took the Honda instead. When I got home I decided to park it like a BMW to amuse myself.

Expecting the car back this Wednesday or Thursday.

Its a dark color, should be fairly easy to blend.

Do the A pillar the full way? You mean with body filler?

Uh, I guess so? He said the standard way, not PDR. I assumed they take the panel off and pop it out, then refinish. I can check what he wrote up on the estimate

Sounds like a good outcome. Its amazing the slightest of dents the bodywork guys can detect. One of my cars got rear ended and it blew my mind what miniscule ripples and such they pointed out on the quarter panels that I would have never detected

As long as they do a good job I'm happy with it. And the dent really is hard to see, he only noticed it because it makes a sharp line in the shop light reflection.

  8. So it turns out I did lower my deductible, and the adjuster said rates don't typically go up on deer hits. Total is going to be a little over $2400, car goes in next Tuesday and its going to take a week to fix it.

He found another pair of dents I didn't even notice across the rear door and fender. I guess the deer bounced. He's also going to completely replace the mirror for me and do the A pillar the full way instead of pdr.

With only paying $500 and getting a full new drivers side and my rates not going up, I think it makes sense to use insurance here. Only downside I see at first glance is 3 weeks before the car is back, and its getting cold... I might not get it back in time to have fun with it in the boost weather.

  9. Yeah I'm not showing it to anyone, that's why I asked you guys not to share it. I definitely saw it and turned my hazards on while showing down, I wish you could hear that instead of the music.

But thanks for all the advice, another new car thing to learn I guess

This^ or make the claim: "IDK I parked it outside overnight and came out to it like this in the morning."

This repair wont happen from the inside anyways. PDR is possible on Pillars if you go to someone with the knowledge and tools. This example in the link below is a crease, not a dent like you have. Yours looks like it should be easy to remove using the glue pulling method.

I don't know, this is kind of what I want to avoid. He didn't put it back how it was, just pulled the big dent out and then pushed everything else around it down so it looks like a clean line :/
And I know its hard to see in the pics, but the drivers door has a big ding in it too from the deers body. The mirror might be fine though, other than needing new glass.

The video is not muted, lol.

Not sure what you mean by franchised store, I'm talking about making a claim with my auto insurance provider (Allstate).

No matter which way you go about this, you should get a few estimates. Since you collided with something, it's technically an accident. If you choose to make a claim, I'd pursue it under your "comprehensive" coverage because it was an animal. This way it might not be classified as a collision and you can potentially avoid paying a deductible.

So I feel really self conscious about my music now lol I forget what I was listening too and its not playing anything when I watch it on my computer or phone, so that's weird.

Anyways, back to the point. I started a claim with my insurance and the adjuster will look at it Tuesday, I do have full coverage and there is no way they can tell me that was my fault when I have a video of it and the impact is on my side. So this should be comprehensive all the way through, and not my fault.
I was confused about what you meant by paintless dent removal, it sounded like this was a shop somewhere (like when you say take it to an autozone).
I am going to take the car into a body shop tomorrow at lunch and have them do their own estimate so I have something to compare it too, and with my big ass deductible maybe I'll just eat the hit myself and not deal with insurance rates at all.

    Great music for deer hunting.

Does it link you my songs? The video is muted, but people keep saying this to me.

what dashcam is that? I’ve been considering one now for a little while and that one looks great

Its called a YI Dash cam, $50 on amazon + a micro SD card. It records all the time and then saves footage when it detects an impact. This was actually the only "mod" suggested by my wife.
Fun fact, you can trigger the acceleration detection by launching the car!
This is the one I use: Yi Dash Cam

Agreed. I know this could be fixed with some PDR and some attention to the mirror.

I claimed the damage to my E90 after I slide into a snowbank last winter. The bumper had a small crack in the bottom but since it was an M-Sport, I knew the payout for the bumper, paint, labor and small accessories would be around $2000. I got $1500 after they subtracted my deductible and fixed it for around $1000, leaving some extra change in my pocket. Cool, right? Nope! Now I have an "accident" on my record, my insurance premium went up, I lost some safe driving discounts and it went on the CarFax. If I could go back and choose to fix the damage out of my own pocket, I would have 100 times over.

I guess I'm a little confused, is this a franchised store or something else? I've never been in an accident before and I'm not sure where to go with this. From the sound of it I might be making a bad decision here, but whats the point of insurance if you don't use it when you get in an accident? I googled painless dent removal and it brought up the same shop I am meeting the appraiser at next Tuesday. There is also a big ding in the door and a couple scratches in the side, I just want it fixed all the way.

I don't see why they would raise my rates, this wasn't an accident and I have video to prove I couldn't really avoid it.

Hmm, I am not a body repair guy but that seems fixable if they can get it to pull back out.  I doesn't look like it distorted the window frame, at least the window didn't crack.  Is the mirror ok besides the cover missing?  It looks pulled out some by where it mounts to the door.

Window frame seems fine, but it was dark and I've been at work all day. Will give it a closer look this evening. Mirror shattered and fell out of the cover, it was dangling by the cables for the heater. That part alone is $500 without the glass, so its going to cost me something.

    Did the Deer get totaled?

I honestly thought so, but the cop couldn't find it. It smacked its head against the A pillar but must have got up and walked away.

    24 minutes ago, Jdesign said:

    OH deer!

But seriously I would just go to a paintless dent guy and have him pull that out. I bet it would cost you $50-70. Then just buy a new mirror cover or mirror if its broken. Depending on your deductible, small damages like that are better left off of the cars history report and easier to pay out of pocket.

The thing is, I want it fixed properly all the way through. I had/have big plans for this car and I don't want to be disappointed by something like a bad repair or go cheap on fixing it.

    Bonus points, I have a dash cam and got footage of the little turd. Go 46 seconds in to see it. Please don't share this though;

  13. I sorta know him, I was going to buy his white E92 when I was on the hunt for a 335. He told me his dad owns a truck shop of some kind, I can look up that conversation if you want/need, and that he does all his own work out of that shop. Edit: Just looked, the shop is called Toys for Trucks
I'd be curious to know how long ago that car was junked, because he just recently sold the white one I was going to buy, just before I sold my 330.

Good luck finding out more, hopefully the engine is sound. I want to see your car running (and I need your spare parts).

I tried to see how the downloaded map works with google maps. I wasn't able to get it to run turn by turn navigation with it. I was only able to see the route and my current position on the route. Not ideal but at least everyone has a chance to see the route and meeting point, and look it up on the phone for reference.

Let me know if anyone coming from the East wants to drive to Jason's shop together, I will be piloting a borrowed 335i and who knows how many injectors, wastegates, and electric water pumps will fail on the way over :P

Don't jinx it! The rest of us like their injectors wastegates and water pumps exactly how they are.
Also I got it to do turn by turn a week ago but I forget how, I'll play with it again.
