Speak for yourself on the size...
Harbor freight is a great place for man-gifts. For example 40"x72" moving blankets for $4.99 are perfect for protecting the fenders when working in the engine bay... http://www.harborfreight.com/40-inch-x-72-inch-movers-blanket-47262.html
I was in Duluth Trading, and they have all kinds of gizmo/gadgets for around $10. Like Eddie Bauer, but better. You'll find some good gifts for girls there too

Did someone mention BACON?

Well I was supposed to get it replaced tomorrow at safelite but they screwed up and don't actually have the glass in the warehouse that the computer said they did. So now it should be Tuesday.
Bastages.

I'm in for a tattoo, but really the forehead? I guess, if there's enough beer.

OK, well, I'm the "Newbie" here. Maybe I can provide an unbiased viewpoint. Let's just get this out of the way: I'm not a kid (42), but I am a kid at heart. I love driving fast, and I love Bimmers. I really like to DIY everything I can, which is why I have joined some forums...mainly for technical information and DIY advice.
There are three forums I participate in... e90post, n54tech and this one. I know there are others out there, but if I can't find the info I'm looking for on those three, I might go lurk somewhere else.
A FaceBook page? No need. All we need to do collectively, is go to our personal FaceBook accounts and occassionally post a link back to WI BIMMERS. Our friends on FB can check it out, and word spreads that way.
Maintaining and flip-flopping back and forth between the WI Bimmers FB page and the WI Bimmers Forum is redundant. I do plenty of redundant crap at work. I don't want to post "What is this peculiar noise coming from my engine?" twice. Nope, just once thanks. Bottom line is a FB presence would dilute this Forum. You would have people who post here all the time, and others who would post on FB all the time.

I just had an old cat litter box open up. Would it help if I rented it out to you?

Walnut Blasting N55 and N54 in Fond du Lac and Northeast Wisconsin, 335xi at 100k+
Bobdudeman and I walnut blasted my e92 (2011 335xi) this weekend. He's a real nice guy, down to earth. He doesn't charge much for this service, in my opinion, but he's really not in it for the money. $180. He has all the tools needed and the know-how on both N55 and N54 engines and doesn't mind if you help. Of course he appreciates a little extra and maybe a 12-pack of his favorite beer (Warsteiner dunkel).
If you do the walnut blast, I would suggest also doing the oil filter housing gasket (OFHG) replacement and the o-ring for the water hose for the extra $30. Buy the gasket and o-ring ahead of time from Amazon or ecstuning. Bob will also do transmission fluid and pan/filter change if you need it.
As for my N55, it had 101,000 miles on it at the time. I've seen pics of N54 intake valves that were much worse at 1/2 the mileage. So the N55 still seems to have the same gunk build-up issue, just to a lesser extent. I have some pics below. Sorry for the quality. It's not the best camera, and I'm far from a great photographer.

Trust me, they're clean as a whistle. Noticeably more responsive throttle. Seems to have more power, but I'm thinking it's more of a placebo effect. Later this week, I'm getting the VANOS recall done, so unfortunately I won't be able to give an accurate estimate of fuel efficiency gains. But I'm SO glad this service is done . It's good peace of mind, and I know it won't be needed for another 100k miles! At least 2 years, right, Bob?
Bob, if you're reading this: excellent job! Since I'm in that area regularly, I'm going to provide you fair warning that you will be seeing my car again... and maybe some beer too.

Looks like a patient on the real trauma tv show. Lol. Damn that garage is CLEAN!

Welcome! I'm guessing your the one I sent over here looking for bobdudeman1988?
Yup, I think you actually sent two of us over! I see there are lots more controls here when using a PC as opposed to mobile device...

I see about 30 Bimmers a day. Hard to keep track of them all. And yes, I do know where Elkhorn is.

Been a BMW owner for a year and three months now. Bought my 2011 335xi Coupe, with 53k miles. Now at 99,590. Mostly hanging out at e90post. Based out of Green Bay.

New here but long time bmw owner, im offering to blast and clean n54 and n55 valves for 180 !
Pm me for details
Im located in N. Fond du lac wi
And i do this out of my garage at home
Bob, I'm in Fdl a lot, covering 1/3 of WI as my territory. Definitely interested in having you walnut blast my N55. I sent you a PM on N54tech, but I heard something happened. How long does this blast process take, start-to-finish? Would you have time this Wednesday, Thursday or Friday?
Are the new N54/55 motors reliable? known problems?

My 2011 N55 e92 has been rock-solid reliable, except for my thermostat housing cracked due to a pothole at 89k miles, but I replaced the water pump anyway at that point as preventative maint. Also since you have to remove the pump to get to it anyway...
Bobdudeman and I walnut blasted at 100k miles, and changed ATF/pan/filter and transfer case fluid at 103k miles.
Hpfp has not failed. No turbo problems. I'm now at 104k and counting.
