  1. Well it's coming along slow but sure. Interior all swapped and hope to have the engine out by mid week.

I may take the valance off my seta...better shape and closer in color. I can't put the US diving board bumper on yet because of garage door clearance.

  2. Well after thinking about it for way too long, I decided to dismantle the 533 rather than the seta. It is the better looking of the two runners I have but the seta is just plain worn out and the swap will take less time. The 533 has rust in many hidden areas but has lots of goodies. I will drive the seta (very reliable despite the looks) this winter and hope to have the 535 running soon.

I have ordered and have received new sub frame bushings, dog bones, diff mount, CSB, engine gaskets ect... I am ready!!

I cancelled insurance on it this morning just to put in cement and deter me from changing my mind again. I have most all of the interior out. I am cleaning/installing the interior to save space and chance of damage due to just laying around. Space is still a problem.

It has taken a while but I am really hyped on this. Depending on work/free time I hope to have this running in two weeks.

  3. Now that I am situated in my new home and am getting ready to bring the e21 there as well, I wanted to turn what was once a sun room attached to the garage, into a workshop. Plans are to take out the windows and make it a solid wall so no one can see in anymore, build a worktable and eventually insulate it and drywall the rest. One of the cool parts tho is that most if not all the wood will be recycled and cost me zero dollars. My dad is currently rebuilding his backyard deck (where the 4x4s and 2x4s will come from) and my brother just replaced his flooring in the living room with carpet (where the table and shelving tops will come from). I started out measuring the area and modeling the room layout in my 3D program I use for work. This is what I came up with.

Next I demolished a storage box that was built into the wall making room for part of the table.

  4. Sold my 328i today... it was a sad day but I could tell the guy that bought it was truly thrilled after he drove it.

Now you have some wiggle room for new projects ? :).

I only sold one BMW that I owned and that was a 94 325i sedan. I really liked the car but it was TOO small. I always felt cramped. It was great in all other regards and a blast to drive. It was in that car that I received my only speeding ticket in the last 15 years. I remember doing 55 and downshifting and rev matching into third and "Holy Crap" did that thing pull. I do miss it for that reason alone. I have a sweet spot for my E28's. I guess I am getting old but still have some class  .

  5. Anyone here know what a stall converter is/was in an automatic transmission?

    Old school launch control :)

Lets you rev up so you can launch higher I think.  But automatics are evil and a thing to be swapped into the scrap pile!

Not all automatics.....I had a turbo 400 with a manual shift valve body and a torque converter from a Vega and man did that thing shift. Sideways shifting into second at 60. :)
