  1. Hello all, please put this event on your calendars.

BMW car show, sponsored by Badger Bimmers chapter of BMW CCA and BMW of Milwaukee North.  This is the 13th year of the show.  It's at BMW of Milwaukee North (formerly Concours BMW), 5990 N. Green Bay Avenue, Glendale WI on Saturday, June 4, 2016.  Open from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.

If it's nice outside, the show is held in the service parking lot area.  If it's raining, the dealership clears out their showroom and service drive and we have the show indoors.

There will be people's choice voting in 7 classes and complimentary light refreshments.  Spectating and entering a car in the show is free for everyone.

Hope to see you all there!  Maybe it will be warm by then :)

I talked to Darcy about this and she said at the time that everything as far as board meetings and the concours show were to remain the same.

It is now either BMW of Milwaukee North or Umansky if you don't feel like saying all the words for BMW of Milwaukee North.  We continued to use Concours BMW as the name until we were provided new ad templates, etc. for the new name.

  3. Jeff, I may join you at that event. Still working it out.

Thanks for the BB event. I had a great time !!

Registration for the NW Shelby Club Blackhawk event closes on Monday August 10, but they still have a bunch of spots available.  I really enjoy their events, especially since I don't have to do any club work at them!  There are usually a surprising number of BMWs at their events, too.

  4. hey now, I'm still signed up for OktoberFAST !!  I support my local cca chapter, demmit!

Awesome! I'm signed up, too!  I'm also going to Blackhawk again on August 22-23 with Northwoods Shelby Club.  $350 for 2 days.

  5. I was at the BB Blackhawk event and I thought it was a fantastic day (full disclosure, I am president of Badger Bimmers).  I got about 2 hours of track time in my car and another hour riding with my excellent instructor in their E46 M3.  To me it was well worth the $210 or $215.

I know the pricing thing is a sensitive issue for many.  Badger Bimmers loses money at every Blackhawk event we run; it's a constant battle to keep the pricing reasonable and still have the events.

  6. I run the Tuesday cruise night in Mequon (used to be at Highland House, got kicked out of there for being too big, now we're back at the old Brew City Grill/Sybaris location, but anyway...).  I also organize the Concours BMW show for Badger Bimmers, plus a bunch of other stuff.

This is an issue that comes up every so often. I think the answer is - it depends.  A show like our Tuesday night thing always has been and always will be open to any kind of car anyone wants to bring.  Old, new, interesting, boring, exciting, clean, dirty, whatever.  It's a social thing, and we have space for everyone.  A show like the Concours BMW show is obviously for BMWs only (except for a few non-conformists who bring something else and are too dense to figure it out and we're too polite to expel them).  A show like the Saturday night show at the HAWK in Elkhart Lake shouldn't have Subaru WRXs in it, etc. Space is limited and it does piss me off that a WRX takes the spot away from a "more worthy" car.

But the bottom line is that almost all shows are organized and run by volunteers, and it's already aggravating enough to do all the work and listen to people bitch about this that and the other thing (and snap getting a bagel! :)), to have to worry about pissing off some idiot by telling them their EconoBox SUX isn't a show car.  Life's too short.  I just don't look at cars that don't interest me and so far I'm only halfway to crazy.

  8. Yes indeed, tomorrow night, Tuesday, August 12, 2014, is BMW and MINI Night featuring Badger Bimmers at the Highland House in Mequon.

There is a group of BMWs (mostly 2002's) coming up again from Chicago.  Last year we had about 90 BMWs and MINIS at the show, almost every type well represented.  Along with about 90 cars of other types... It was a great event.

The weather forecast looks like morning rain that will be all cleared out by early afternoon. then mid-70's temperatures.  That will bring out a ton of people - we've been filling up almost every week lately.  So the earlier you can arrive the more likely you will get a decent place to park.

We officially start the show at 5:30 but we usually have a few people there already at 4:30.  We do door prizes at 7:00pm and many people leave after that, between 7:30 and 8:00.

The restaurant has asked me to ask everyone to please not bring in alcoholic beverages or tailgate-type picnics to the show.  Possessing open alcohol containers in the parking lot is illegal, however so far the law has looked the other way, although the Mequon Police stop in every week.  The restaurant is willing to take the risk with alcoholic beverages purchased there, however they understandably do not want to take that risk for no reward.  And since they are a restaurant, they would really like it if you bought your food from them :)  I know it's a bit of a pain sometimes, but there are precious few other options for a 225-space parking lot we can use for a free car show every week.

    See you on Tuesday!

    Jeff

  10. We had about 135 cars at the show, more than 50 Porsches.  The place was a zoo and it was a lot of fun!

That red Jaguar is a fantasy model created from scratch by its owner.  It's basically a mix of an E-type lightweight and speedster.  The fabrication on that car is beyond incredible.  He said he will bring it again next week (July 30) for Exotic Car night if the weather is nice.

The guy with the GT2 RS comes pretty much every week, either in that car or his red Ford GT.

The 2.7 RS is a clone, it belongs to the president of Badger Bimmers.
