  1. She is done (for now :P )!!!!!! Turned out better than I expected. I didn't think it looked too bad with a red tank, but with the tank painted white to match it looks killer to me. I will let the pictures do the talking tho.

I'm going to be taking my bike.

I am definitely going to try and head over to Rockerbox tomorrow. I am busy till about 1pm, so I will most likely be there after then. If you wanna meet up let me know. Didn't know you had a bike. Anxious to see it.

  2. The D675 got a new look this weekend. I picked up a set of new fairings and plastics since the red ones were cracked to shit. Now to just paint the tank adn she will be complete. Sorry for the dark pics, I can get more if people are interested.

  4. Just picked up my "new to me" 06 Triumph Daytona 675 last week. The ride home was phenomenal and it just keeps getting better! Decided that it was a great deal despite the cracked plastics here and there and the guy was super nice. He showed me everything on the bike, gave me all the records he had plus a service manual and he even told me to take it home and if I didn't like it to call before 9pm and he would take it back for full refund. Wow! Some upgrades include a fender eliminator kit, integrated tail light, aero windscreen, frame sliders, adjustable clutch and front brake levers, gel seat and a TOR slip on exhaust.

The owner before the guy I got it from removed the exhaust flapper that regulated back pressure during lower rpm's, so the guy I got the bike from took it to Triumph of Janesville to get remapped. They did a good job, but it wasn't perfect. The bike had a flat spot hesitation between 4k and 6k rpm that was pretty annoying. I decided to buy a usb-to-obd2 cable and download a program called TuneECU. I was able to connect my laptop to the bike and see the fuel, ignition, afr maps. Looked to be a tad bit lean in that rpm range which would makes sense for the flat spot. I did some research and found a guy on the Triumph forums that posted his custom dyno tuned map. Even tho he was running a custom 2" exhaust and removed a bunch of stuff, I figured I would try his map out and see. I saved the original map just in case and uploaded his to my bike. Man what a difference!! It glides through the rpm's seamlessly and shifting is even smoother. Here is a comparison of the two maps.

Its an absolute blast to ride and am extremely happy I decided to get it. Got my 1200cc Buell up for sale too if anyone is interested.

  5. Hey man welcome! Glad you made it over. If you dont remember, I'm the one who text you a few days ago, doing the e21 build. Hopefully thigns are going well so far on your build. Would love to see it.

  6. It has definitely been busy as hell at work and my weekends have been preoccupied with others things, but I can finally post an update. To answer 02intherockies questions, the rear brake hose issue was solved by using e30 rear brake hoses screwed directly into the caliper. It’s a tiny bit of a stretch, but it works. I finally got the crank pulley to come off thanks to the help of a gigantic gear puller from Advance Auto. The smaller one I got from O'reilly just didn’t cut it apparently. I am in the process of replacing the seal in the timing cover right now. Once that is done, I will mount the new machined down crank pulley and mock up how to trigger wheel will sit in relation to the vr sensor. Going along with my copper rear end, I said screw it and used up some more paint on the pulleys. Most of you probably won’t agree, but to each their own, right?

My brother and my dad both work at a machining/metal spinning company, so I utilized their expertise and machines at their work. I picked up a big chunk of solid aluminum 3-1/4” rod from Speedy Metals for $20 and had my brother throw it on the lathe to make some spring dividers. I just drew it up in CAD and away it went. As you know, when using helper springs you need a divider between it and the main spring. A couple days later and we had this.

    Which gets installed like this.

From that point, the rear coilover setup was complete to the point of install. I will have to wait and see the ride height once I can put the car on the ground, so tweaking most likely will be needed.

Along with that stuff I mocked up the front euro bumper using bmacs adapters that I powdercoated earlier in the build. My front valance is dented in from someone backing into the car, so that made it a big rough to mount it. All-in-all I think it looks better than what I had.

That is all for now. Stay tuned!
