twoods12345
Ok I have a 2000 e46 328i I just balanced the wheels and that didn't solve the shake. My wheels are not bent. The sake starts at about 50mph. While driveing strait I noticed that the steering wheel will shake then go away for about 3 seconds then slowly come back and go away and come back. Could it be control arm bushings? Possibly a tie rod?
wasnt m3
I'd check both the control arm bushings and tie rod ends. Either of those could likely cause the shimmy.
jc43089
Does it steady out when you apply the brakes? Check the tie rod ends but it probably is the control arm bushings. I have replaced failed ones on 3 different e30s and e36s. I install the OEM centered style ones for an e36 m3, they have more rubber vs airspace so they last longer but don't coat any more. I think the e46 might use a slightly different one though, never done one of those. Sent from my 831C using Tapatalk
