O hey Ben, welcome back!
Thanks John! Kind of dropped off the planet there, have barely been in the shop this winter.
How did your trip to the club shop go? I hear the motor is almost stripped?
I should have the new head on wednesday or thursday
If I get enough free time at work today I'll order a clutch this afternoon!
-
Oh things are happening again ! Ordered custom motor mount arms for the e21, a clutch will be in short order !

Feels good to cut that mullet, dont it?
jk, but my Camaro provided me the contrast I needed to realize I liked the connection, build quality, and performance of a German vehicle.
Mine was always party in the front business in the rear....

Ask them to control their nose-heavy solid axle suspended 35hp per liter bullcrap like this with stock engine and suspension:
protip: They can't.

So I've got the e28 up at the club shop and all tucked away. We've been going through the parts and the paper work and finding all kinds of nifty tidbits.
Chris do you have any idea on the condition of the clutch in the parts bin? There was a spare timing cover to replace the broken piece. I'm thinking that if we switch to coil on plug I don't have to worry about the distributor though?
*Update from the meeting last night: the majority of the club is excited about the car and we should be moving forward with inventorying parts and selling off what we don't need and creating a budget and timeline for what we do need. Keep an eye out for a build thread and a for sale thread from the Automotive Enthusiasts Club of Platteville.
Anyways I'm trying to compile a list of resources for parts and info.
So far this is what I've got can anyone help fill in more resources?
Thank you

tomorrow I'll be picking up an e28 shell for my students car club track project.
Literally just made my night! Didn't know it was going for a cause, but abosluelty love it.
Glad to hear it! I originally wanted to keep it for myself but very quickly realized that I have no room or time for another project right and the current club leadership wants to branch out from drag racing to get even more hands on building and seat time.
My job now is to keep them from doing what they know and stuffing a 350 Chevy under the hood.

It was a busy weekend in lake woebegone , my home town. Bought a chain saw, threw a birthday party, killed a keg of spotted cow, got a chord of firewood delivered, picked up my new 885 head from Andy, got a set of wheels for a friends vw and tomorrow I'll be picking up an e28 shell for my students car club track project. No rest for the wicked

I traded it to Dave

=( Well at least post a bunrout video!
Second this, can I get a third?

Lol @ dibsed
Any ideas on what clutch you want to use?
Yeah, gotta love monthly salary when you're buying parts.
Clutch I'm debating between a clutch master fx100 or an Sachs OE replacement for now...
I really just want to get the car running
Many thanks to
Mike, John, and one of my student staff, Charles, who came out and ripped the fuel tank, and body harness out, and got the brakes unfrozen. Ended up being about 12 gallons of fuel in the tank... Opps
-
Almost makes me sad that I unceremoniously ripped the m10 out of mine... But it will get more love in it's new home
-
Things are starting to line up. Single mass flywheel ordered, an 885 head had been dibsed. lots of work planned for this weekend. The fuel tank is on it's way out as is the front subframe. I'll get that cleaned up and work on fabricating motor mounts. Once the fuel system is stripped I can finish patching the floors as well. Now I just need a clutch.
-
This car drove.
For a whole 30 feet!
Video evidence is required
-
Welded in patch panels over the rear assembly holes. Not my prettiest welds but it's solid. Once I bedline the interior you won't see them.
Have to pull the fuel lines before I cut the front floors
-
OK, I could put in some time on Mondays.
Awesome ! I'll look into those gauges tonight
-
Could happen simultaneously with the motor which should be starting next week after I finish the body
-
What are your thoughts for wiring? Mike said the wiring was a disaster, possibly caused by him lol. I wonder about using a small aftermarket fusebox to do the remaining body wiring. I imagine it will be very minimal or what are your thoughts?
I haven't done much research yet, bug I've been thinking about it. All I will need to control is headlights, tail lights/turn signals, and whatever power my custom gauges need. Which for the time being will be a tach and a garmin gps ...

Well we know where they all go now ...
