MK2 Jetta Audio Build (winter beater) Zed, Dayton, RD, AA audio gear, Dual alternators

If anyone wants to help. I'd greatly appreciate it! just send me a PM. I pretty much work on it every day after work and every weekend. It's slow progress though.

Things have slowed down a bit as I am broke a FUHHH. But I keep finding small things to do until I can get the engine back in.

Head Unit Pioneer P99RS
3 Runs of 1/0 OFC Power and 3 Runs of 1/0 OFC Ground
1 XS Power D3400 & 2 XS Power XP3000 with Copper Bus Bars
380 Amp & 320 Amp Iraggi Alternators(One is a chevy case, the other ford)
RD 7500.1 running 2 12 inch SPLaudio (AA Mayhem motors/baskets)
Tuned to 36 hertz. About 4.5 cubic feet, 8" Aeroport
Zed Audio Leviathan III on Morel MDT-29, RS100-4 & RS225-8 Daytons

This should be as far as I know. Unless someone can show or prove to me otherwise. The very first dual alternator set up on a multi-belt system in a MK2 Jetta. I will have 700 amps of alternator power to run all the accessories.

The goal is a to have a great sounding daily driver with a very nice sounding 3 way active front stage. But also be silly loud on the low end. This has been a long wait for me. I have been slowly working on this for about 1-2 years saving up and getting little by little done. This summer was my plan to finish it.

I already had 1 of the alternators in, and the 6 runs of 1/0 in. Also the batteries and copper bus bars were in. I swapped out the stock rear springs for Passat B5 springs which are REDICULOUSLY strong.

This is what I want the alternator set up to look like.

So. I started by getting the engine out of the bay and doing a coating of Bed Liner.

I hate how cheap the rain trays feel and are. But. I got lucky again at the junk yard. Someone junked a SUPER clean golf. So I grabbed the rain tray out of it that was in far better shape than mine.

This Front subframe piece that the front engine mount attaches to was a lucky find. I checked my local junk yard. Out of the 4 MK2 cars that were there. 1 of them had a SUPER clean hardly even rusty sub frame piece. Mine was garbage.

I need to go back to that junk yard for the radiator support. Mine is so far gone I don't trust putting it back in.

Looks great man, I remember when I was that motivated. My 240sx had an active front stage, which is now gone. That car is just too loud to sound good. That car must feel like a total turd when both the alternators are working! lol Those daytons are great drivers, and who can complain about morel tweeters?

I have a bunch of aftermarket gear in my 540 but I really don't like the way it sounds. I think there may be something wrong with my Kappa5 power amp.

I like the way the bedliner looks under the hood. Is that sound deadening material heat-proof?

This is my first time building a nice front stage. So I am looking forward to the turn out. Especially since every piece of equipment resulted in about a year worth of saving extra money to afford everything. I bought pretty much every single piece of equipment used to save me some money. That pioneer P99RS Head unit is $1200 new but I paid $840 used. That one set me back quite a bit.

The car was already slow as hell. So making her slower won't be a surprise. Each alternator under full load should rob about 7-10hp. I've so far added about 500-600lbs with all of the deadener, batteries, amps, subs, box and so on.

So the car will be terribly slow.

Yes. Pretty much all deadener is heat resistant to a degree. This Audio Technix stuff is rated @ 325 degrees for 4 hours before it might start to damage. I watched a youtube video of a dealer putting a sheet of it in his oven for 4 hours with no issues.

The black Audio Technix part might belt off because it's just plastic. But under that is aluminum foil.

I did it to cover up rust and to keep the engine out of the cars cabin.

I can set your amp/amps or head unit with my SMD DD-1 and CC-1 if you'd like.

Cool toys, I may take you up on that! I am familiar with the P99RS deck. I was an Eclipse guy, but that's no longer an option.

The eclipse 7200MKII?

Let me know. It's a quick tool. Takes probably 5 minutes total for the DD-1 if your stuff is easy to get to and we can get a strong 40hz signal.

Eclipse left the aftermarket audio arena a few years ago. They're a huge manufacturer of OEM equipment. The problem with Eclipse is that they were always a bit behind the ball with features like playing MP3s, bluetooth etc.. They were really aimed at the audiophile market, which is dwindling. A good amount of the SW series woofers were built by TC sounds. Excellent drivers.

Good luck with your project man, it'll be fun to watch. I am too lazy for that serious of a build nowadays.

Ohhh ok. That makes sense. Yeah the audiophile market is a hard one. I am by no means an audiophile. Just looking for a better sound than it was before.

I don't blame you. I am getting tired of working on it so much.

Just did the rear doors in with 3 layers of the the 80 mil. They always rattled badly on my previous low power. So I did a lot of layers to make sure they stay quiet.

I should be getting my transmission back this week so I can finally start working on getting the engine back in.

I am still really broke. I owe my brother for borrowing money and rent. I am almost out of deadener too. So I may have to finish deadening up the rest of the car before winter or next year after winter.

So far I have laid 25 hours of deadener. I am pretty sick of it.

Good times working on cars with sideways engines...

I've never worked on anything bigger than a 4cyl. well. I have but not as in depth as this.

And the problem is one of the half shafts froze up. So I ordered a new one. which is really gay.

worst engine ever is a 3.1 or 3.4 v6 in any pontiac, chevy and so on.
