^ I thought it was done from the PO
Thought what was done?

So I started painting the engine bay with the kbs... Completely disregarded the warning on gloves...
Opps...
Also decided that despite being welded to the front valence the fenders need to be replaced and therefore be removed. No dice all the bolts are out and the finders won't budge. Inner fender is coated in a rubberized undercoat of some kind and I think it's holding the fender on. Really hoping that they aren't welded too

Just brush it on! it self levels pretty nice, I use KBS Rustseal, available at Napa. Similar product, some have said it's better, I just use it because it's easy to get and extremely durable.
Sounds good I'll try to get some tonight after work

Edited, they do have grills so I will bring charcoal/grilling supplies, Now tomorrow I need to get the e30 rolling! Me and my girls will be there.
I'll tag along with you or Mike if you'll have me. Plus steaks... I've got a freezer full that needs grilling

If you want to throw those 2.0L pistons, rods & crank my way I will gladly get them out of the way for you.
I was going to weld them up into a table or something.
I'll trade you for those decals email me your shirt files too and I can get started on them.
Update: all glass except the door windows are out, I think I've found all the rust holes that need to be fixed, the main debate now is patch or replace...
There are some significant holes in the front fenders and new rockers are pretty much a given.
I need to shuffle money around to get the 2.7 from Mike, I really hate getting paid once a month...
My shop mates are making a run to steel mart so I should have some sheet steel to practice welding and making patches.
I'll need to get a lesson in POR15 from Mr. Menard as well

When a car goes down to bare metal, what is done to prep it for paint to prevent humidity in the air from propagating microscopic rust spots that will grow under the paint?
Primer? Not really sure
John thank you, we'll see where I get with the glass over the weekend
-
Really wallowing in the "what did I get myself into" mood this evening. Took the grinder to ever rust bubble in the paint I could... Rockers are gone, front fenders will probably be replaced along with the floor pans.
Gonna make a big push this weekend to get the glass out and then buy paint stripper. We're going to take her down to bare metal

Welcome!

John,
Thanks for letting Damian and I stop by yesterday. The 'vert is even prettier in person.
As we were leaving Damian goes "your friends really nice but I kind of hate him right now" he spent the rest of the day about how you got a clean e30 vert for cheap monies
-
So Sexy!
-
Pictures of the vert !
-
Ah! Next time I will do so !
-
Spent the day tearing down the old m10 motor and drinking beer in the shop. I'm planning to clean it up maybe paint it and then weld it into a coffee table or something.
For having 36 years of wear and tear she wasn't in awful condition
-
Mr. Menard made these templates from his e30 vert to see if I can run e30 flares on the e21 I think they will fit!
Thank you sir!
-
Oh where's the rust hole ?!
-
That garbage just peels up with heat and a putty knife or pry bar
-
Heat gun makes that go super easy
-
Gross, does it have the black tar layer like mine did ?
-
That's why I'm thinking I could chop mine down to size but it's probably easier to pull one out of an e30 ...
I'll check for a date on the trans tonight
-
Anyone know if the 4 speed linkage is drastically different than the 5 speed ?
