These look awesome, any chance you'll be making some 5 speed coasters?

    Yes - with Reverse!

you f*in read my mind.  mr.nickmanderfield, do you think you could do a set of 4 with a custom design drawn by me? (it might even inspire you to do a series of engine-themed coasters)

I could - feel free to email me or find me on the facebook and we can chat more!

  2. Figured this would be up your alleys, finally launched a product I was inspired to start last year, and re-kickstarted thanks to the secret santa gift I got for christmas from a forum member here.

CarbonCoaster - Automotive Inspired Carbon Fiber Coasters

Simply, coasters made out of carbon fiber, with an optional brushed aluminum display/stand.  Almost everything is sourced from the USA or Wisconsin, with machining done in Oshkosh. They are pretty cool and I'm stoked that they finally came together.

There are a bunch of tracks already available with more on the way, and a single proper gearbox pattern (with more coming too) with BMW M model pattern (no reverse on the right!).

I am offering money off for local pickup as it saves on shipping (everything goes flatrate) and also working on a referral program, basically share on social media and if anyone buys you get a 5-10 dollar kickback, figuring car guys are friends with car guys, it's going to go pretty smooth, plus they are cool enough to warrant a share or two, if you ask me!

Let me know what you think or if you want to get some for yourself or for a friend, I'm located in Appleton but ship anywhere

  3. 99designs is great and you don't really need to try hard to get a solid response from a ton of designers.  Typically paying the additional fee for highlighting or featuring the listings is well worth it.  Most of the times the first few designers really nail it and the rest of tweak the designs that you have rated highly, in hopes to make theirs just slightly better than someone elses, but once you start dialog directly with a designer things figure themselves out.

I recommend 99designs highly, it's nearly 'set it and forget it'

  4. Welcome back! Great story and its awesome to see a dream come to reality. Gotta ask but I hope its a 6-speed!

The pics you have are awesome though! Lemme know if you would like them shared on the Facebook page.

It's not a 6 speed, but the 8 speed auto, really quite ridiculous.  Between the 428 6spd and the 435 8at, I just could not resist this transmission.  It blows the previous generation (E9X) M3 DCT out of the water - I recommend driving a car with this transmission or the new M's and their auto/slappy paddle transmission, it shifts before the paddle resprings

Uhhhmazing looking car, welcome back. Any plans for mods?

I have H&R Sport springs installed currently, with a JB4 and painted front reflectors sitting on my desk for the last 6 months :(

    Welcome back

Glad to see one of these owned by an enthusiast on the forum

Any gripes with it at all?

I have a gripe with the car, a huge one, I think about it all the time.  With all the options, which I do not regret getting, as I utilize them all on a daily basis, yes, even the over head view camera, and am a sucker for technology, with all the options it comes out to be just a few grand over the base M4 price - but go configure an M4, and try to keep it at the base base base price, it just isn't going to happen.   I think about had I waited for the M4 instead of going with the 435 (but i did want AWD), would I have been happy with a ill-equipped M4?  Yes, it has more power, but I like my gadgets, and other things (insurance!).  Whatever, just food for thought when pricing a new car, so many options in so many price ranges, especially with every manufacturer making 20-30 different models now.  I think for my next car, I will buy one solely for sporty driving and fun, and another for AWD and practicality, instead of trying to cram it all into one somewhat practical and pretty sporty car.

Hey, I took that first photo :)

I remember when you bought it and I got that first ride. Really motivated me to sell my E36 and get my 1-series.

    Awesome car.

    jakespence.com is the man!

  5. Got an email reminding me this forum exists, so here I am.

When I was 16-18 I drove a White E36, 1992 325i, and had to stop at Bergstrom Enterprise quite a few times for parts.  I had always gawked at the cars in the temperature controlled glass room in the corner, the one where people would pick their cars up from once they were delivered, and I always dreamed of doing it.  Fortunately I was able to do that, built a fully loaded 435, one of the first ordered in Wisconsin, I think only a few others beat me to it, and picked it up in that very bay.  The waiting period was ridiculous, waiting for the progress bar to move, then GPS tracking the boat on it's way over, then waiting for it to hit the dealer, all was worth it of course.

I was in the market for a car around this price range, the Audi S5 was kind of a let down, the RS5 was great, but felt very much like a motor swapped A5 (the interior is just eh to me), Bergstrom received a demo 4 series the day I was about to sign off an a 2014 Audi S5 order, drove across the street, fell in love, still glad I stuck with BMW, hopefully Audi's next S-models, specifically the coupe, have a much more interesting look to them, the body lines on all current Audi's, except the 7 and 8 of course, to me, are just bland.

Realizing now I've had it for almost a year, and have basically zero pictures of it.

  6. Anything that is available on your car(s), anything, can be coded. The list, if it were accurate, would be incredibly large.  The data that I have totals somewhere around 30Gigs, don't really want to list all of that out :P

I'm not really offering this as a super-professional-business-service, but more of a 'you want ____ coded but don't want to spend the time/money figuring out what cable what software and where to get it all and you don't want to drive to Madison or Chicago to get it done' for a little money so I didn't spend a hundred bucks just to code six things on my car.

You can find what's available to code for your car in many places, there's a few BMW coding forums, lots of sub-forums on the main forums.

It's not really hidden information what you're able to code, it's finding someone with the correct software and cables, that's where I can help!

  7. Hey everyone.

    I bought/have:

    • K+DCAN USB (E9X and younger / 2012 and younger)
    • ENET/ESYS USB (FXX chassis / 2013 and newer)
    • E-Sys 3.24.2
    • 51.1 PSdZData
    • NCSExpert

Coding itself is $20 if you provide me with what you want done with the values or entries that need to be changed (provide forum links / guides).

Coding otherwise is $40 bucks if you don't know the values or anything as I'll have to research and put some time in.

I think these prices are fair?

My goal is to hopefully balance out what I paid for the cables, new charger and battery for my old Dell laptop, and the time spent reading awfully written posts/guides to get it all set up.

There's a lot of resources online to find the information on what the entries and potential changes there are.  I had difficulty finding someone in Appleton with the cables, especially the new ENET one. I have the most access to FXX chassis information so I wouldn't need to look any of that up.

I live by Appleton North, let me know on facebook if you need some coding done and I'll let you know when I've got time! Thanks
