  1. Last summer my CCV took a dive and hydrolocked the engine big time. Couldn't turn it over with a breaker bar on the crank pulley.  Search  "CCV Delete"  threads on E46 Fanatics for getting rid of that monster.  I  had mine venting to atmosphere in summer with hardly any drips, but in winter used an appropriate sized plastic bottle to catch oil/ water condensation at at times there was 3/4 cup each week!

  2. 1973 Bavaria. Maroon. My Dad and I picked it up in Fon Du Lac at what was then I believe Valley Imports just on the south side of the entrance to the airport. Had it for 24 hour test drive. My Dad wanted to lease it and they disagreed by $20 a month.

They  wouldn't budge. He wouldn't budge. No Bavaria in the driveway.

  3. I've had my 2001 330i for a bit over a year now. Bought from a repair place in Marion that didn't do the best of work. Only things I've had to do so far have been pump leak on washer fluid resevoir, lower hose coolant temp sensor, thermostat and front control arms. The torque of engine is great- an all around fun car.

  4. E46 failed thermostat will be in the OPEN position. Easy fix on manual but have to take the fan off on an auto.  Wise to replace water pump while in there. I didn't and  to this day could kick myself.

Keep an eye on temps over the next couple days- it may have been high as a fluke. Or even paper or plastic stuck on the grill and fell off while at work

  5. Interlux is far superior to Rustoleum. It is a topside and hull paint made to stand up to weather. I've done the Rustoleum on a car and it doesn't last but a year before fading. I've done Interlux on a whole car and on sailboats and it works fine.

If Ryan doesnt want to stick a lot of $ in the Boobaru it is an acceptable way to go.

  6. I'd be willing to give you a hand and could probably do the paint like GunMetalGrey's first car ( now on his 8th).

The painting is the easy part. There is a heckuva lot of prep time. Mostly if changing color on door jambs, fender troughs under the hood etc.

Most people are intimidated by body work, but it can be fun and worth the effort if you do it yourself.
