Ive been relabled as community bmw mechanic. Lol. Dont have time to fix my stuff and Work has me pinned down horribly. Looking desperately to aquire a new welding/fab job. But i dont wanna derail your thread. How was the installation of the dp? Easier than the n54?
-
Indeed. Too busy to fix.. it will remain fubar till i acquire time and monies..
-
mines a 2007, and now killed with bad cam bearing ledges . be happy lol
-
Just like the newer vw turbos. Theu have issues with the diaphragms tearing.
-
iirc the n55 diverter valve is on the turbo correct? and a bog warner turbo. i haven't heard of too many failures with it.
-
Not plug and play for sure. Depending on year you'll need a frm swap. Some wiring done. And coding for sure. Ive never done it but google yelds some results.
Without coding the ballasts wont fire. And the ahl will not function if ever because your car is likely not equipped with the level sensors

The n55 isnt as weak as an n20 thats for sure. It just goes to show that bmw is figuring out that they made them to strong for stock power. Hence why they pulled the forged rotating assembly out. But the n55 is a torque monster. Lots of people running pure turbos and nothing bad yet. Id say its looking great
-
We can only hope the early n55 isnt as weak say an n20 bending rods at 300ft lbs.
The n54 is such a great motor. The n55 was supposed to be cheaper in cost. Im sure after time this turbo will make it apparent . If there is any

I know some one personally who went to the Milwaukee dealer and they did the swap with the catless pipes. Its a matter who you know i guess regardless id save cash on the swap back and forth to upgrade the turbos with better ones. Just because the rattle will come back. Nature of the beast
-
Im pretty sure the dealer in Milwaukee might .. turn there heads at the downpipes. Id call and ask but dont give them a vin? id remove the jb4 for sure tho
-
Im not really sure. Whats the year and mileage. Lots of times the rattle can be reduced by adjusting the waste gates. Lots of times also dealers will upload a new dme flash that will rob throttle response but keep the waste gates quiter
-
yea.. life sucks for me.. lots of people need my help but i cant right now. I should open up soon
-
Holy crap guys..
-
i showed mike the light . And there's more performace to be had if you upgrade turbos and don't need the race logic from cobb. Regardless. Jake drive one of our cars. Youll see why. It helps more with people with auto transmissions because the dme can report load to it so it dont shift like shit. The jb4 is all smoke and mirrors. Someday youll see.

Before i went corn i avg like 28.? Lol

Welcome Zach!
Car looks very nice
Headlight swap requires coding?!?!?!?
You should also get an older BMW to tinker with
The battery needs to be coded when you swap it in these cars, your suprized? Lol
-
What year is it? It might require a frm2 or 3, its an expensive retrofit for sure..
-
Headlight swap requires some coding, if you need any help with it e90s are my flavor. Welcome!
