I would have dropped by the meet but I was rocking a Toyota Camry and didn't want to draw attention and make everyone feel like their car is a piece of crap or something.
Today I got the new clutch master cyl, clutch line, firewall grommets, man-pedal and brake pedal in. Definitely the biggest PITA of the whole project. I also put my ABS pump back in and a host of other items that I removed to clean up and repaint the bay, spent a while degreasing things, and dropped my transmission off to have this piece welded back on:
Current status of the work area:
A little preview of the painted bay (bedliner)
Man-pedal installed (nevermind the phallic-looking steering shaft hanging down)
OBC gauge panel installed for the wideband
During the week I will recieve my oil pan baffle and windage tray and will be installing those next weekend. This next weekend should get me very close to putting the drivetrain back in the car.

Hey guys my name is Ted and I am from Vernon, I do a lot of restoring BMW from e36,e30e39 and e53. I have 3 e30 working in right now, 91 318i, 89 325xi and 89 325ic. I have many parts available.
Ted
Ted, what kind of parts do you have available. I am always looking for things / perhaps we could make some trades. Im out in Vernon on the weekends.

Tire wall day at Black Hawk Farms is on April 7th. I'll hopefully be there! Come bag tires for a couple hours and get lunch and an hour of free "track touring"....
AHA! I was wondering what this was all about. I might just do this if my car is finished up in time.

Maybe all the ones I have seen have been in a bad state of tune, but I am just not that impressed with the M50. My opinion is that it would only be worth the effort to do an S50 at minimum, even then the S50 doesn't impress me much either (meaning that the cost and effort of the swap are not justified by the performance gains)

Welcome!
That view + the E46 wheels made me do a double-take.........
twice.

Who else is planning on going out to the track this year?
Post up any events that you know about or plan on attending along with relevant details.

I am looking at going to the Apr. 25th automotive track day as long as I am not traveling for work. I would like more info on the SCCA and other events happening in April if anyone knows more about them.

Thanks for the addition. I asked Pegasus and King motorsports, they both suggested C&S also. They are charging $75 for a resurface, $75 /hour for lightening and $35 for balancing.

....selling a Dinan e30 chip on craigslist and claiming +30hp and 7500 rpm redline.
http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/pts/2711517734.html
"Dinan Performace Chip - 30HP, 7500 redline - $150.00"
It's too bad that BMW wasted so much development time and money on the M50/M52 engines when all they needed to get 200 hp is a Dinan chip.
-
Does anyone have any recommendations or ideas of where I could take my flywheel for resurfacing/lightening?
Somewhere near Milwaukee preferably.
-
As long as you can hang with something like thisit should be close.
-
Let me know when you get the swap finished up and if you are ever in the Milwaukee area. I'd like to do compare performance.

Welcome Jake!
I almost traded you my e30 for that miata (my BF is still upset that I didnt get the "cute red car")
I have a friend that was interested in it too, but he didn't have his car sold then.
-
Good taste in cars/mods.
I remember seeing the e30 for sale but I swear the ad said that it needed to be sold because the owner was physically unable to drive the car. Is this the same one?
-
I am planning on Megasquirt and will either go 2.8L or 3.1L with an increase in compression ratio. I am guessing that next winter will be the engine build. This spring and summer 2012 will be for improving my driving skills at the track.

If you plan on keeping the car for a while and dont plan on driving it in the snow then do your self a huge favor and buy something rust-free from the southwest.
-
it is so hard to make an OEM wheel look better than the original finish. I would say if its not silver, then do flat green/olive drab or a flat beige.
-
Theres an Oakland Gyros right by my place, feel free to drop off your Borbets on the way O__O

Could you please blur the license plate, that is my friend's car and I don't think he would appreciate the license plate being posted.

stance wi?
I don't understand this whole "stance" thing, could someone explain it to me? Are the people who mod their cars for "stance" insecure or something? I understand that everyone is entitled to dressing up a car however they want but who in their right mind would want to make the car handle worse, while destroying the ride quality just for the sake of getting kudos from their bro's at a car show.
It's like eating food that tastes bad and is bad for you, just because it looks cool. madness.
