  1. Here's a brief recap of the last 8 months...

I sold an alpine white 1989 325iX back to andyhundley (who is a ginger btw).

I then purchased a 2013 WRX, which I had ordered directly from Subaru. Had some specific requests that I couldn't find anywhere on a lot, and got a decent deal.

The thought process behind the WRX was that, I would continue to drive my 318is and whomever (wife or I) had our child, would drive the new car. You know, safety first, warranty, etc....Turned out that my wife didn't particularly care for the WRX, or she'll claim that she wanted me to have the new car. She took my 318is as her own daily driver. She didn't exactly pay much attention to keeping it clean, regrettably.

So, a few months ago, I ended up having a significant failure to my WRX. Extremely long story short, a clutch and transmission needed replacing. Subaru claims I have a poor driving style and abused the vehicle. I can tell you thats not the case, and Subaru was never able to show how a clutch with 8,000 miles failed and caused a transmission to fail as well. They wanted $8,000 dollars for repair. After a month of fighting, and countless emails and phone calls, my car was fixed without cost.

Many of you may have seen my want to buy ad where I was looking for a cheap daily. I was under the impression my wife liked the 318is as she insisted on driving it. I was planning on buying a project car for cheap. After lots of discussion, the wife told me she didn't care for the 318is either... (Seeing a trend here fellas?)

SO- Three days ago, we traded the WRX for a used Mini Cooper S. It's a 2007 Cooper S with 42,000 miles. I forget the actual color, which is some sort of black but actually looks more like a dark dark blue. Wife loves it, so I suppose thats the important factor.

    Today we washed it.

So thats that. Now I get to finally get back into my E30 and back into the BMW world that I have truly missed. She's dirtier than I remember, and needs some loving. Here are a few bad photos.

    To Do / Wanted List
    - Wheels / Tires

        - Yes, the car is still on snow tires, shut your face.

    - Suspension

        - Fairly certain I will be doing coilovers, who's helping?

    - Keyless Entry

        - I have a few of these chinese kits around, they're slick, I'm tired of opening the car from the trunk.

    - Lighting

        - Car only has one working brake light, and is in serious need of some projectors + HID's...

    - Serious Detail

        - The car has some light sun bleaching. I'll fix that.

I may start a new thread, I may update this one, who knows. Thanks for lookin, and I'm excited to see folks at meets soon!

  2. WRX returns.

Took one day shy of a month to get it back in my hands. Just not acceptable.

Got to talk to the bank, see if they want to float me another loan this early or not. I may look into a E46 M3. I suppose time will tell.

  3. I've been on the phone with them about this for a week or longer. I was supposed to get a call today and they were going to offer some good faith assistance.

Problem is I drove this car no differently than any of my previous manual transmissions... Actually I drove it MORE conservative. I don't feel that I should pay a penny.

  4. Well, many of you may know or have heard I purchased a new 2013 WRX. I needed to get in a new vehicle for once (new as in, with warranty). The WRX seemed to fit the bill...

I've had it for 8,500 miles now. That is, I had it for 8,500 miles. Apparently Subaru says my "driving style", and or "abuse" caused the clutch to die and thus also the transmission. I have been quoted just under $8,000 in repairs, as the warranty will not cover it.

I can get into more details later, needless to say I'm in a battle with Subaru of America, hoping they cover the bill. Regardless of who picks up the bill, expect to see my fat ass around here more often. I intend on selling the Subaru and getting back into a BMW. That may just mean that I spend more time with the slicktop 318is that my wife had been driving... But regardless, I'm done with Subaru.

I hope you'll all welcome me back with open arms, or legs...

  5. I saw you in Kenosha the other day. I thought, who's that cool dude in a E34 touring... I'd like to be his pal. Little did I know it was you!

You should call me some time when you're in town. I can drool over your car and stuff.

  6. Screw spotted thread...

Today I observed a E36 M3 in Kenosha, alpine white. I was following my wife home, she was in the WRX and me in my 318is. This clown gives me a stink eye after checking out the car and then decides to race my wife. I was a little disappointed she didn't make him cry but-

    To stinkeyed E36 owner:

I am an enthusiast. My 318is, while several years older than your car is in far better shape than your dime a dozen rusted E36. A simple head nod or thumbs up would have been appropriate. Should you be a member on this forum, or ever find this forum, I will motion for a public stoning.

PS the angled Modified Mag decal on the upper left of your rear window is not classy.

    Sincerely,

Me, the one who is better than you.

  7. Well...

I joined the Air Force in 2005, got out in 2010. I was "Security Forces" but spent the last three and a half as an SP or Security Police. I was assigned to the last true law enforcement unit in the Air Force. We did a lot more than a typical Security Forces unit or Military Police unit. In fact, we worked jointly with the Army MP's (and I married one). They served as OUR partners.

I worked in South Korea, doing more base defense shit before I got to Germany. When in Germany, we also worked with the German Polizei. I "deployed" to Qatar, which was actually an Army mission. While it was not dangerous (more so than anywhere else), I was working well outside of my paygrade and had some interesting duties. I did a few PSD missions for some of the top Generals in the region who would come. For those who aren't aware, Qatar is the home of many of the commands that lead the war(s)...

While in, I worked with all branches, arrested people in each... I don't "bleed Air Force blue" and I don't compare dick sizes with other branches. I did volunteer for combat deployments, yes the AF (Security Forces) has them. For whatever reason, I got "lucky" and didn't go. It's something that admittedly troubles me, and I have regrets over. I had the best and worst times while in the military. I have some uniform photos somewhere I can post, back when I was skinny.
