  1. Sparkling graphite 335? May have been me. I went down a few times last summer to watch the ricers get pulled over.

Hrm.  Maybe it was.  My memory said black but I could be wrong.  Did you play with me?

If it is a coupe then it could be a really simple fix, the lever thing that you pull to release the seats can get jammed, so it is still thinking the seat is folded down. Just fiddle with the lever pushing it back and fourth, it should click back and the seatbelt will be free. That is what happened to mine a few times.

  3. I run the Tuesday cruise night in Mequon (used to be at Highland House, got kicked out of there for being too big, now we're back at the old Brew City Grill/Sybaris location, but anyway...).  I also organize the Concours BMW show for Badger Bimmers, plus a bunch of other stuff.

This is an issue that comes up every so often. I think the answer is - it depends.  A show like our Tuesday night thing always has been and always will be open to any kind of car anyone wants to bring.  Old, new, interesting, boring, exciting, clean, dirty, whatever.  It's a social thing, and we have space for everyone.  A show like the Concours BMW show is obviously for BMWs only (except for a few non-conformists who bring something else and are too dense to figure it out and we're too polite to expel them).  A show like the Saturday night show at the HAWK in Elkhart Lake shouldn't have Subaru WRXs in it, etc. Space is limited and it does piss me off that a WRX takes the spot away from a "more worthy" car.

But the bottom line is that almost all shows are organized and run by volunteers, and it's already aggravating enough to do all the work and listen to people bitch about this that and the other thing (and snap getting a bagel! :)), to have to worry about pissing off some idiot by telling them their EconoBox SUX isn't a show car.  Life's too short.  I just don't look at cars that don't interest me and so far I'm only halfway to crazy.

Thanks for your work man.  I haven't been to one of your events yet, but when I do I will make sure to mention how ungrateful I am with a 12 pack of whatever floats your boat:)

  4. Hunting, eh.  I haven't had any real competition on the strip the few times I've been down there this year.  Shit I pulled hard on a cbr1000 from the line all the way to 50mph (max I'm willing to go).  He was at my rear quarter panel at 50.  I know that is just about the time he would start to move past me as if I was standing still but it was pretty fun anyways.

Me and another 335 were messing around one night and he pulled on me one round then I pulled on him and so on.  That's what I love.  I have no idea what he was running  Maybe he's on here - hey black e90 335i guy I played with in my black 335xi you on here? (Early this spring or maybe last summer I can't recall)  What mods?

Is it mostly Friday nights or is there action on Sat too?

  5. i've been cruising hwy for 16 years. Never stopped doing it. I just don't go as often as I used to. I'd say I get out there 5 times a year.

These days I mainly go there to cruise with my business partner (forum member dastuz) because I live in Hartland and he lives in Franklin, so it's a convenient spot for us to meet up and catch up on things, and we both like driving so, there ya go I guess.

Also, the days of ricer flybys and whatnot are mostly gone. The highway is rarely that congested - honestly after the Fast and Furious hype died down, the racing went way down with it. 90% of the people out there are just cruising. I've had idiots in Subarus talk shit to me but they are half my age and I'm a winner so I don't really care, but more often than not it's just a convenient place to drive and see a few cool cars.

I personally don't like driving in the boonies when it is dark because it's just plain dangerous to drive the backroads in terms of hitting wildlife at night. As quiet as it is, too many deer, coons, etc. In my 2008 135i I hit 2 coons 20 yards apart once and after that I said no I'm done racing around the backroads at night.

Well said man.  I have accelerated in a spirited fashion a few times this year.  I never break the speed limit and the xi is really good off the line so that works in my favor.  Though it's rare to get a red light where you are in front.  You always have some fart can or a giant diesel truck in front of you.

Well, maybe I'll see you down there one of these weekends.

    Cheers,

    Burn

  6. I won't be telling my son not to go cruise.  There's actually a pretty good chance I would go with.

If they pay their own insurance and cruising fines I've got no problem with it:)  However, if they make it my problem there will be issues.

  7. I used to go down there when I lived in the area.  It was cool to see what other people were driving and doing with there cars.  Most of the time we sat in the Starbucks or Culvers parking lots and watched cars drive past and let the shenanigans unfold in front of us.

To somebody who's never done it or seen it busy it's hard to explain why you would do it.  There's something satisfying about pulling into Oscars to get ice cream and there are various levels of modified cars all backed in with more cars cruising past.  I always said I would be that "old guy" in my nice car still cruising... I didn't realize that I'd be that "old guy" by my late 20's lol.

I hear that man.  How quickly time flies.  I'll be telling my kids not to go down there in another blink of the eye.

  8. ^^ this. My plan was to eventually pick up the ER oil coolers but the dual setup is like 1500 bucks and i'm a poor mofo

Yeah, that's a lot to spend on a DD.  I might pick up a miata for track use and keep the e90 for DD.

  9. e30 fuel is not what my brain wants it to be. Welcome, glad to have another member in the area and very glad to see you taking it out on track to be enjoyed. How was the understeer/oversteer behavior with the awd?

The understeer was pretty bad. I think a square setup would help quite a bit. I hit limp a few times from coolant temps. Brakes worked like shit. Other than that I had a great time.

  10. what kinda bullshit is this? no pics or any relevant info about the car. 6mt? mods? plans to mod?  #N55tuningLimitationProblems !?!?

gtfo son or come back with pics

Well, I suppose I deserve that.  I'm in Waukesha by the Red Rooster.

No pictures because it's completely stock looking.  2011 335xi black will get you the image.
