straight6pwr
so got the block all buttoned up. painting done. foot hardware and bearing caps installed. created a 'headgasket'. i didnt want the paint between the head/block to adhere over time. plus it gives it the correct look, as you can see the gasket between the two. i will be mounting the heads to the block with just four head bolts each. all 20 would be overkill. straight6pwr
also getting pretty close to done, all i have left is to paint the valley pan, figure out my plaque, finish polishing some odds and ends like plugs on the block and intake manifold hardware. B C
The open valves dont interfere with the head gasket?
straight6pwr
no valves in the head. no point in reinstalling all that when it can't be seen. same reason for no crank/pistons. it also saves weight. the bag of valves/springs must weigh 8lbs and obviously the rotating assembly is a bit more. straight6pwr
valley pan done. brand new mounting hardware used. painted copper because it will be fairly hidden by the intake and will just disappear if it left it aluminum. also, copper kicks ass. straight6pwr
well the intake mani seals i pulled from my actual car were almost in brand new shape even after 130k miles, so i decided to add them to the project. i am now 99% done with the table. all i have left is to get a plaque with the technical deets on it. deciding between etched glass or laser engraved aluminum. photoshoot to come... Doorman
Etched glass as in etched on the top itself? wont that get ruined by spilled pop, pizza, juice boxes, those little white speckles on sno-caps and mess up doing lines of coke on the top? I vote laser engraved plaque!

I vote laser engraved plaque! lol lines of coke. glass would be etched (in reverse) on the bottom of the glass. leaning towards the plaque since its possible for the glass to be lost or broken. getting quotes/feasibility from a few places, but if anyone has a source for this sort of thing i'm all ears. straight6pwr
ok so no update in a while for a number of reasons, but mainly i had to move this month so i didnt want to do final assembly only to tear it down and do it again. here's a sneak preview of all the parts, should be together in a couple days. straight6pwr
lol, leadballs. apartment to apartment in the same building, so no agent. homeowner-ship? then I would have no monies for dumb stuff like engine tables.

[emoji14] Not only is the execution great, but the design and how you chose what to keep/remove from the engine. Im going to show this off to everyone now
