B C
http://jalopnik.com/ferrari-sent-deadmau5-a-cease-and-desist-about-his-purr-1627640534 Recent news of Deadmau5 being threatened by Ferrari involving a de-felinization of his Purrari is just the latest in a long stream of douchebaggery by Ferrari Corporate to administer cease and desist / lawsuits to people who have modified Ferrari's in a manner not pleasing to Father EnzoA list of stories I can think of just off the top of my head:-Corporate demanding that a Ferrari 430 built to be a Nurburgring track car have its Ferrari emblems removed. -Lawsuit against a man who made a stretch limo based on a damaged Ferrari -Lawsuit against a man who went to Pinnifarina for some custom bodywork on his FerrariFerrari Corporate withholding the sale of certain models to the general public and only allowing a select few hand picked customers to be eligible based on their Ferrari ownership history.-Ferrari only allowing owners to lease certain competition package cars that you dont get to take home, Ferrari holds possession of the car and delivers it to different tracks only for track driving. I like some of their cars, but the elitist nature of their dealings with paying customers deters me from ever purchasing a Ferrari product. .... oh and theres that money thing too. patsbimmer1
Things like this is what drives people to buy a Lamborghini... They'll let you do ANYTHING! Side note: Deadmau5 put the Ferrari up for sale after removing the wrap and now he has a Mclaren 650s spyder.

Brian.
I'd sooner own a Ferrari (depending on model) over a Lamborghini. I'd like a lamborghini. If I had future plans of going UGR on it.

Brian.
Honestly. I'd have both. Too bad the Countach is significantly more expensive then the 'rarri. Although: > Would have been a better comparison then the 'Rossa.
patsbimmer1
I agree. Ferrari's politics are annoying but if given the opportunity... I'd still buy one.
REKIII
This is funny. Ramplesaucerburg and I were having a very similar convo the other day. I'm a Lambo guy. Nothing against Ferrari (although the items above are disturbing). I think the L cars have more raw styling than the Ferraris.....which are more easily described as 'Beautiful'. Best comparison, is a Ferrari is the nice girl you take home to mom, the Lambo is the hot mess you keep on the side. Earl
Wouldn't the Lamborghini that matches with the F40 be this?
ClassE
I'm actually pretty okay with Ferrari doing most of the things above - the only things I disagree with are the limo and bodywork lawsuits.
patsbimmer1
I am pretty sure the Countach would have been direct competition to the F40 to be period correct with the Porsche 959 in the mix as well.
Earl
What would have been Ferrari's competition to the Diablo then? I have never looked into Lamborghini's or Ferrari's enough to know anything other than I like Countach's, Diablo's, and F40's lol
patsbimmer1
F50
Earl
What seems weird to me is the Diablo was introduced in 1990 and Ferrari made the F40 until 1992. They then didn't make the F50 until 1995...this all confuses me.
patsbimmer1
It makes sense if you look at their time lines. They ended the F50 in 1997 then the Enzo 2002-2004 and now the La Ferrari 2013 - prestent
patsbimmer1
By makes sense I mean there are large gaps between their halo cars.
wasnt m3
All of those Ferrari's you guys just listed were 3x the price of Lambos of the same era. Apples to oranges in my opinion.
patsbimmer1
All of those Ferrari's you guys just listed were 3x the price of Lambos of the same era. Apples to oranges in my opinion. I agree. When you talk about the "competition" between the cars I don't even think it is fair. Lamborghini was still a novelty that tried to kill you at every blink while the Ferrari's were mostly track focused true super cars made in limited volume. The f355 would be closer in price to the Diablo but on paper the Diablo still competed with the F50.
wasnt m3
Have any of you had the opportunity to see what an older Lamborghini looks like underneath? If you had, I guarantee you might change your mind on wanting to own one.
suspenceful
I'd take a Lambo over a Ferrari any day. However, the '14 458 Italia is an amazing car.
Earl
I thought the underside of old Ferrari's is what would make you not want one? I must have mixed that up in my head...
Brian.
Someone enlighten me on the undersides of an older lambo.
B C
The bottom side of every lambo ive seen is plastic and has the word "Maisto" on it Brian. and rampelsauce
Earl
TJ told me about it a while ago bit for some reason I thought he said Ferrari. He said the welds and craftmanship underneath are super shotty.
Ryan...
My uncle (who works at MPI in Oshkosh) said that Ferraris starting with the 308 are actually pretty easy to work on. Time consuming with the engine removals up until the 360 (and 328 timing belts could be replaced w/o removing the engine), but overall Ferrari didn't do anything too incredibly stupid packaging wise. Also, giving hope to those like myself who'd like to someday snag a 360, timing belts can be done in under 2 hours start/finish if you've done it before and have the proper tools.
