Talking to the seller about this... I think I could get it for under his $700 asking price. I just don't want / have the ability to tow the darn thing home to fix it...

Red e34 is an odd duck, but the price seems right; depends on mileage/service history. It's a crap shoot with a car this old, but if you're shooting for the low end of the price spectrum, my strategy is to go for high-mileage cars that are running and driving, or have been running and driving until very recently. I'll take a car with some wear and tear and a little rust over one that's in great shape but needs suspension, exhaust, brakes, cooling system, and has 4000 rubber, plastic and vinyl parts that are about to disintegrate as soon as you start actually using them.

Seller is a goof. He'll take $2000 for it. Notice how he put the wrap right over the fender gills...?

I like the estimated retail at $90k... if the car gets totally redone, and redone right, not far off the mark the way prices for these have been going.

Hagerty is chalked on the windshield, I wonder what the stated value payout was?

This^^. I am willing to bet the PO got a fair payout, but no way is it near $90k. This car just sold for $63K for reference: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1988-bmw-m3-36/

Eww... I wonder if this comes with the trunk full of whatever drugs he is on

I feel so bad for that poor e34

Meh. Thats not bad, just needs some wheels and a little TLC. I have seen FAR worse in my time.

It's not the ugliest thing, wheels and plastidip/wrap and it would look fine...but he's smoking something if he thinks he will get anywhere close to 8k for a e34 525i.

Nice but too much $$$!

I bet if it had a far less rare benzinmotor somebody would pay that, especially if it was a 533i/535i.  A 524td with even less miles struggled to make $6k on BaT.  Very few e28s left with this mileage/in this condition, but the td/auto aspect is a real punch in the gut value wise for it.  I like the sheepskin seat covers, very period.
