GunMetalGrey
Long story short, you have to have some really deep pockets to get anyone to swap motors for you. And motors are expensive themselves. Also, I like doing swaps and could entertain the idea of doing it. Sent from the future. Or my phone, who knows. AvusHatesCones
I vote supercharger, it fits the character of the car much better than a big torque monster V8. However, if you do consider the LSx swap, talk to Rawsomotion on here. He's done a few swaps, granted in other cars but I'm sure he could give you some estimates on cost/labor etc. http://www.rawsomotion.com/
Blaine0002
you cant just 'slap a turbo kit' on an s50/52 and expect to get tooooo much out of it.
damnboy037
ABL has a stand alone system that makes engine swapping worth it, I sent my euro ecu to Alex to disable my EWS (should've had him install The Alpha N tune also).
krautuner
I've never done any engine swaps but the subject has always fascinated me.Has anyone swapped a 540i motor into a 3-series, does that make since?

Pretty sure there was a article in roundel about a M60 swapped E30 not too long ago. I've seen it done on the internets too
straight6pwr
m60 into e30 is a bad idea if you ask me. weighs a shit ton, not enough room in the e34 chassis, let alone the e30 chassis for it, bad gas mileage, less reliable and more expensive to fix, and only 50hp more than a regular old s50. krautuner
...and that's why your handle is straight6pwr I'd do a HP build in this order 1.Supercharger 2.M60 3.Turbo, simply because I like me a nice exhaust note.
Brian.
I think swapping in an S14 motor and detuning it would be your best bet here in all reality.

I was averaging almost 25mpg with 80% hwy driving in my 540i. Ran like a top, 128k miles. I imagine in a lighter chassis (like the e36) it wouldn't be unreasonable to get 26-27, which isn't much worse than your typical e36 325i gets anyway.
