Completed the heated steering wheel retrofit. All 100% stock parts. It really cranks out the heat when first turning it on. Then settles after that to a very comfortable temp. I'm very impressed.
I also installed a wireless phone charger in place of the ashtray in front of shifter. 3D printed an adapter that mounts to stock screw locations and uses a universal wireless charging pad from ecstuning. Works great!

I did a 48(!) mile mini-adventure over to DeForest this morning to explore the fancy-pants bike path they have over there. The battery was still hanging on when I got back, but I'm pretty sure it was just about done. I'm obviously pedaling a fair amount, but my legs feel a lot fresher than they would if I tried something like that on my mountain bike.
I've racked up about 270 miles on this thing over the past couple weeks. Mostly going to work and shopping trips, but a couple joy rides obviously. The small wheels make the bike really agile and nimble, but the ride quality definitely suffers. I tend to cruise at around 12 mph, and only really put the hammer down when there nice smooth pavement.
Overall, I really like this thing. It's been a lot of fun to cruise around on and suits my needs really well. I did have some quality issues out-of-the-box though. UPS had obviously had their way with it. The battery was just laying loose in the bottom of the box. On my 2nd ride, I had it pop off of the bike and go skidding across the asphalt. The source of the problem turned out to be some loose hardware in the battery holder. That's fixed, but I still have a few wraps of electrical tape on there as cheap insurance. Looks a bit janky. There's also a tolerance issue between the front sprocket and crank spider which made getting the chain tension dialed in pretty difficult. Nothing too major IMO, but it would be nice not to have to deal with these kind of things on a brand new bike. I've heard that Propella's customer service is good, so I could probably go back to them, but so far I haven't bothered.

i got into biking for a hot second because my late wife was into biking.
i completely rebuilt/restored/modified three bikes, all of which I got for free. (old bikes people were giving away)
some old chinese steel frame knock-off thing for her to ride. (blue one)
a schwinn twinn that i inherited from my grandparents for us both to ride (yellow one)
a cheap mongoose hybrid steel frame from the 90s that i turned into a cyclocross style bike. (couldnt find a picture)
i stopped riding because of numb feet and threat of personal harm to man bits. i do really enjoy it though, and thought cyclocross might become a hobby.

We made it!  Not a single hiccup ( except for the Indiana roads beating us up) and even managed about 28mpg!
The cars are rolling in from all over... Amazing cars.... I need to find myself a 2002 now, lol.
We're off to Greer SC today to attend "50 years of M" at the BMW CCA and check out the production facility and performance center.
Tomorrow is the big show, expect a big photo dump!

    thanks everyone.
was hard to watch it go, but it went to a nice guy who is a BMW enthusiast (not a local). he had previously bought an e30 convertible, and it wasnt quite the sports car he hoped. When he got in this thing it was about 1 min till he was sold that this is what he was dreaming about in an e30.
thank you. put about 30,000 fun miles on it in 5 years.
i've said this in the past, but if any of you ever hear or see me driving a mini-van, please just set it on fire for me. It'd be ok if I was still inside.

FYI adjusting some of the slop from the steering box is doable in a 6cyl e34. there are how tos online.  you should be able to remove some of the dead-on-center feel.

i see you are reselling DEPO kits. just a fair warning - their quality is subpar. I can tell you are dedicated to selling a really great product, and the DEPOs are not up to those standards.  just have your customer service person ready to field those calls 😜
a suggestion: be willing to open a set of the DEPO lights and sell replacement parts from it if someone requests. no other vendor does this. you may actually get business from this alone, and it would also support your own product. youll have to learn to disassemble (and/or make some special tools) without breaking stuff, but it doesn't take much practice.
    what i've personally seen/experienced:
    1. broken or stripped adjuster knobs (plastic is bad quality)
    2. broken glass (thinner glass than oem, cracks easier)
    3. leaking seals. (the gasket on the back bulb covers and the o-ring on the parking light are a joke)

Got some more work done today, but more of a one step forward, 1.5 steps back deal.

I successfully pulled the tank, no thanks to the engineer that specced those horrible ass crimp fittings to all the fuel lines (I have choice words I’d like to use, but won’t). They do their job fine but are such a pain when it comes time to replacing and removing things.
Anywho, got the tank down, all the lines and senders/pump and whatnot transferred to the new tank. Fit was pretty solid, the new mounting grommets fit in snugly, the sender and pump fit tightly, and all bracketry mounts right up. My only gripe is that the tank thickness appears to be different between the replacement and OEM one where the senders mount, so you cannot use new OEM o-rings; thankfully, they include slightly thinner o-rings in the packaging, but something worth noting. Otherwise, barring the lack of drain plug everything seems to be more than up to snuff. The holes all seem to line up well with the mounting points on the body, finish is nice, all the inlets/outlets are in the correct spots. Honestly, if they had painted it black, you could’ve told me it was genuine BMW and I might’ve believed you.

So that was a win, but when disconnecting the fuel lines to remove the tank I noticed that my fuel hard lines were pretty crusty.

So those need to be done. I have no desire to burn this car down or worse, and it seems foolish to not take the opportunity to fix it all while it’s disconnected. In the same vein, I noticed the rear brake lines were also getting pretty gnarly. I replaced the hard lines on the trailing arms a few years ago but never touched the soft or hard lines upstream of that, and they’re pretty bad (soft lines have hairline cracks, hard line junctions look like they spent time on the titanic, etc.). So the plan is to either buy all new OEM hardlines from FCP and bend them myself, or install the ChaseBays hard line delete that just runs soft lines all the way back and to the trailing arms. It takes it down to three total lines for the whole rear brake system after the ABS pump, and I’m weighing whether the cost is worth the simplicity it adds. Any thoughts? Potential concerns about longevity?

In other news, got the e34 into full winter mode just in time for spring, oh well. Mudflaps got added to keep crap off the rockers, and roof rack installed to carry the old fuel tank 😂 what, did you think I was going to put it in the backseat?

Dropping it out of the bottom Is the way to go

ABS pump is already gone, as well as all the front brake lines. Working on getting the bias adjuster mounted and remote cable ran.
quick bend of the rear line gets the angle right for the cable to run to an already existing grommet in the firewall next to the main fuse box harness
