  1. The time has come to replace my wife's W body Impala and we both wanted a SUV as a replacement. I kept in mind that I wanted to go used BMW over newer economy because while I find the interiors nice in newer economy cars the road noise still speaks to the quality underneath. It's the curse of growing up with these fine used automobiles knowing how things could be. The goals for this vehicle were really for long trips on vacations or at least day trips. After being impressed with that F10's condition I rented off Turo and @timmer's diesel thread, a E70 35d was the only vehicle we considered looking at. The desire also formed long ago when I worked at the dealership too, I loved driving the E90 and E70 diesels when they were new. They were my go-to errand runners when I had the choice. Father @andyhundley also told me they regularly service 10 of these at his job with no major issues after the EGR is "fixed". I know its a pretty crazy car market right now but I don't feel like the prices on these have inflated much if any. The v8 X5's are the bottom because of their reliability and the diesels are just above that because its different. I saw many 80-120k examples for $12-15k on the market. CoPart auctions were often going for $8-10k as well for clean titled vehicles. Cinnamon Brown Nevada Leather interior was a must for me so that narrowed my search by quite a bit though. I initially looked in November and prices were a little lower on average then but I didn't see any winners at the time. Around the holidays this popped up in New Jersey though and after a week of contemplation I finally made the call. Being a 1 owner, clean carfax with recent service and being at a Euro specific car dealership really sweetened the deal. I'm really glad I looked back on @suspenceful's E70 thread as well because he mentioned using Lemon Squad for a PPI. Jeff at Torch Light Motors was happy to have them come out and inspect the vehicle and I was impressed with their report. I've attached it for those interested, really detailed and 94 pictures all around and under along with 3 short videos. Timing worked out pretty perfectly too as @BMWben is currently stationed out in Newport, RI for training before he moves to Japan. Along with a few other things out east I wanted to do, I figured why rent when I can buy? That and along with the Impala giving my wife some more trouble we decide to pull the trigger. Im flying out to Newark, NJ on the 28th and I'll spend a week out east and drive home on the 6th after a weekend of skiing in upstate New York at Whiteface. 2013 BMW X5 xDrive35D Deep Sea Blue Metalic Cinnamon Brown Nevada Leather Convenience Package (ZCV) - Comfort Access was a must for me Cold Weather Package (ZCW) - Same with heated seats, heated rears was a bonus. Premium Package (ZPP) - All included in ZCV - The Rear view camera with top view I always loved using. Option 300 Space Saver Spare, not originally equipped but it has it! Thrilled this doesn't have run flats anymore. New Continental ExtremeContact DWS tires LemonSquad460341.pdf

    Z3 Coupe content

I am back in business! After letting the e21 go and acquiring a Ducati in its place, it was time to let the Ducati go for something I really wanted. Say hello to my new to me 1999 Z3 Coupe! Comfortably parked along with the touring.

    ‘91 E30

Over the last few months snap had been kicking around the idea of selling his car. Occasionally he would text me and tell me he was serious, naturally I told him to go fly a kite there’s no way he could sell it. However as his texts kept getting more and more serious, so did my interest. As some of you know I sold my first black e30 to stew and I text him basically yearly to buy it back. He always tells me to pound sand which is fair lol. For the last 5 years or so I have been on-and-off looking for a rust free e30, which is annoying. Don’t get me wrong I love my red car and it serves its purpose, but I can only get so many tetanus boosters before my eyes explode Anyways, In an effort to keep the car off the next BMW Facebook page of mouth breathers, I drove done to New Germany with Brooke on June 2 and made the decision to “diversify” my car collection. Upon arriving I was immediately sold. Snap has cared well for the car over the last 8 years and it shows. The paint may be worn and shows its age, but aren’t we all after so many years. What’s important to me is that pretty much every nut/bolt has been touched and mechanically the car is in awesome shape. We took it around for a quick test drive and that sealed the deal even further. Car pulls nicely and is geared fairly tall (for what I’m use to) and it cruises nicely. The drive back home went as expected, although I puckered a few times as the 3” exhaust was hanging fairly low

  4. UPDATE: 10/14/2020 I'd like to take a moment to let everyone know that I am no longer running Garage Life Motoring. With my current job it would be a conflict of interest so regretfully, I had to let it go. Thankfully I was able to find someone to take the business over and continue to support the community and grow the business! My brother in law, Devin, has officially taken over the business as of 10/1/2020! He's a car guy himself and has a passion for euro's. Audi/VW in particular but please don't hold that against him. Him and his wife run a photography business full time doing weddings, getaways, elopements and engagements around the world. He's even had the opportunity to shoot engagement photo's for racecar driver, Kenton Koch! You can check them out on Instagram and Facebook at degrootfilmco. Devin can be reached at the same email address I was using, garagelifemotoring@gmail.com. At this time I'd like to take a moment to personally thank all of you who have supported me throughout this experience! I have truly been humbled by the amount of support I've received from all of you! I never would have expected that this small business could have helped me build so many long lasting relationships! There are quite a few of you that I've grown close to over the years simply because of this business and that's what I'm taking away from this experience. Thank you! I'll still be around here obviously and I've committed to Devin to "officially" support him with technical assistance for the next few months but beyond that, unofficially I'm still available to him for any technical support you guys may need. Some of you have worked with him already and some of you have even met him in person at car shows or at Road America and I trust that you are all in good hands. Hello! I'm excited to announce that I am open for business! I've started a small business selling performance parts with tons of vendors for various makes and models! More details to come! UPDATE: We're currently working on putting our e-store together and curating our assortment! It's exciting stuff for us but a bit tedious. We're trying to narrow down which models we want to advertise parts for but we can get parts for over 400 manufacturers and 900 lines! Some of these include: HRE, Advan, DINAN, AFE, Cobb, BMS, APR, KW/ST, Koni, Corsa, Borla, H&R and MANY MORE!

  5. After selling my F30, I bought an F150. Drove my parents for a little bit and loved it, so I bought my own. Well after 8 months, I decided to move on from the truck and sell it. Loved the vehicle, just didn't love paying for it(economic crisis on the door step as well). MPG wasn't actually too bad, averaged like 17ish even with the bigger tires. On top of that, I wasn't doing anything to justify having a truck and just felt wasteful. Day before it sold. 2 weeks before the truck sold, I made a trip down to Chicago to pick up my brothers 2011 328xi. The car was having starting issues and he was unsure what to do with the vehicle. We figured it would be best if we brought it back to the Appleton area for further diagnosis and repair. Car made the 3 hour straight drive back to Wisconsin with out a hitch. It was around this time that I was looking for other vehicle options. I wanted to reduce my payment significantly or not have one at all, so I was looking at E46's, E70 X5's and E90s. My brother decided he wanted to find something newer so would be selling the E90. So I bought it. 2011 328xi Titanium Silver, Black Dakota leather, and Burlwood with 99,863 miles. No iDrive. Car was running lean on both banks. After some research found it likely to be the valve cover with the built in CCV. VCG was leaking anyway so it was time for it to come off regardless. I also had the OFHG replaced along with the power steering fluid reservoir to address any immediate concern areas. Next will be cabin and intake filter, along with wiper blades. The car is in very good condition minus a few minor things. Was a 1 owner vehicle up to 72k miles when my family bought it. Has always been garaged kept. Silver wasn't my first choice, but the color has really grown on me. I also can't say enough about how much I am enjoying the E90 platform. Only two things this doesn't have which I want; Xenon projectors and comfort access. Comfort access is nightmare to add, so passing on that dream. I have been reading about being able to use the Euro Bi Xenon projectors and having to make only a few modifications to the harness for them to work as opposed to US which have leveling units. My brother hit a construction barrel. I am going to do my best to get this looking presentable, but I plan to replace the bumper next year with an M Tech/M Sport one. (Ignore my dinner) If it's not going to be the weekend car, it has to look good and be enjoyable to be in. I have a fair number of things on the way to address both of those. But will remain largely stock( I say that now). To start, the steering wheel. The stock one is fine, but we can do better. Purchased this heated Sport wheel that I have some plans for. But first to clean it. I used Griot's leather 3 in 1 and leather conditioner in conjunction with a Colourlock leather brush, short hair detail brush, and a tooth brush. You can see how much dirt is caked into the grain. This was after one pass with the first brush. This was after the whole wheel. Clean your steering wheels. Grain clean, nice semi gloss matte finish. More updates to follow.
