I definitely want to try my hand at this, looked fun when you guys posted the events from last year. The touring will not be competitive, but should be a blast!

So far the only one I could dig up is the Fox Valley events.  Looks like the first scheduled event is Sunday Jan. 22nd on Lake Poygan

If anyone knows of any other groups or events please post them!

Just show up indeed. You will register for the event once you get out there.

I will be making appearances to these, and would enjoy seeing more of you guys out there!
Ride alongs / beat runs in the E will be given out as much as possible.

I need to take a hammer to the chassis so I can hit lock without the tires hanging up on the chassis, it makes sliding in a controlled manner difficult when the front wheels stop spinning.

can't wait to see the beast in action, and i'm curious to see how those tires do on ice.

I've been wanting to do one of these for the last few winters but have never been available on the dates they were scheduled, but this year I'm free! It sounds like we just show up that morning?

in the ///m? that will be a riot.

i also have to pickup a cheap DOT racing helmet, any recommendations from anyone? are the baseline Bell ones any good? Would also be using it for auto-x, etc.

They do alright, but they are certainly not snow tires. The liftoff oversteer is what will always get ya ;)
Though that was with the welded diff last year and may be a bit more manageable this year.

Last year we went to the FVSCC events on Lake Poygan (near waupaca).

CWSCC has events on Lake Dubay, which is between Stevens Point and Wausau.

There are also events on Lake Sinissippi (draw a triangle between Madison, Milwaukee and Fond du Lac, and it's right in the center), which are put on by WAG (Wisconsin Autosports Group)

The best source of dates appears to be facebook. I'm planning on hitting the up the FVSCC events for sure, but would like to check out at least one of the WAG events on Sinissippi to see what they're all about.

The first half of the week looks fine, second half, not so much. I'm still hopeful though. Weathermen are hardly ever right anyway, so it's too early to tell. I'd go even if it's a big slush-fest. Ben took all his cars apart though...

I made it very specific to the machine shop that my m20 head is to be done by friday or sooner, all with the intention of throwing it back together friday night and or saturday to make it on the ice ;)

Yes. Looking good for the weather, just have to watch their post for any updates:

If we are good to go, I'll be leaving Milwaukee about 6:45 if anyone else is coming from the city and wants to caravan

EDIT: maybe saying 'car pool' when talking about driving on the ice is a bad idea.
